Department Summary

At Roche Diagnostics, we strive to drive innovation that improves patient lives. Our team leverages cutting-edge technology to develop tools and solutions that empower researchers and healthcare professionals. We are currently seeking a motivated and talented summer intern to join our efforts in building an advanced AI-powered interactive data exploration platform.

You will be part of an exciting initiative aimed at enhancing data exploration in the domains of immunosequencing, proteomics, and mass spectrometry. Building on our existing Python-based Streamlit app, this project will take our platform to the next level by incorporating Large Language Models (LLMs) and advanced agentic reasoning layers to enable seamless interaction with complex datasets.

This internship position is located in Santa Clara, on-site. 

The Opportunity

• Integrate Text-to-SQL Frameworks.

• Enhance Data Embedding Management.

• Develop Interactive Agentic Features.

• Ensure Scalability and Reusability.

• Prototype persistent query management and integration with external enterprise databases.

• Explore advanced agentic reasoning models to extend data exploration capabilities.

Program Highlights

• Intensive 12-weeks, full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship.

• Program start dates are in May/June (Summer).

• A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship. 

• Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects.

• Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry.

Who You Are (Required) 

Required Education: You meet one of the following criteria:

• Must be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree (enrolled student).

• Must have attained a Bachelor's Degree (not currently enrolled in a graduate program).

• Must be pursuing a Master's Degree (enrolled student).

• Must have attained a Master's Degree.

• Must be pursuing a PhD (enrolled student).

Required Majors:

• Computer Science, Data Science, Bioinformatics, or a related field.

Required Skills:

• Proficiency in Python and familiarity with frameworks like Streamlit, Langchain, and LlamaIndex.

• Understanding of SQL, database systems (e.g., PostgreSQL), and data management principles.

• Knowledge of machine learning models, natural language processing (NLP), or large language models (LLMs).

• Experience or interest in cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS tools like Athena, Bedrock) and scalable software development.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications

• Familiarity with proteomics, mass spectrometry, or immunosequencing data.

• Experience with embedding management tools.

• Exposure to advanced data visualization libraries or platforms (e.g., Plotly, Matplotlib).

• Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

Relocation benefits are not available for this job posting. 

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of  California is $45.00-$50.00 hour. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for paid holiday time off benefits.
