Macro Space Analytics (MSA) primarily supports strategic space allocation and optimization decisions, alongside partner teams, for new stores, new concepts, remodels, reflows, and fixture projects.
In this role, you will be responsible for supporting data, tools and category space optimization projects that will influence store space allocation for New Stores, Remodels, and New Formats. You will be the subject matter expert on understanding Macro Space Analytics’ data and our team’s requirements, while working across multiple partner teams (Product, Tech, Floor Planning, Planogram) as new data pipelines are stood up in upcoming years. You will be required to maintain current Tableau reporting, as well as work to evolve and create new reporting with new data streams and tool evolution. Outside of data and reporting, you will also provide category space guidance and optimization recommendations to support partner teams with space allocation tools and understanding impact of category space trades. This work will also require you to collaborate with Tech/Data Science teams to continue evolving category space elasticity for optimization. You will manage cross-functional relationships and timelines while partnering across Merchandising, Merch Presentation, Store Design, Data Ops, Finance, and Enterprise Analytics to effectively communicate insights, given some incomplete data sets, for space allocation, layout, and flow recommendations for Whole Foods Market stores.
This role is based in Austin, TX, with an expectation of being in the Store Support office five days a week. (Relocation assistance provided)
Responsibilities
- Help support the development of macro space analytical methodologies and recommendations
- Utilize strong story telling skill set to transform complex data and results into key themes, patterns and actionable recommendations to business partners to impact business decisions
- Serve as a subject matter expert on macro space analytics’ data and reporting; identify potential risks to data accuracy and work across multiple partner teams as new data pipelines are established
- Maintain current Tableau reporting, as well as work to evolve and create new reporting with new data streams and tool evolution
- Provide strategic, data-driven category space guidance and optimization recommendations to support partner teams with space allocation tools and understanding impact of category space trades to deliver customer-centric store layouts
- Support framework improvement for our Test & Learn approach to better understand the impacts of space changes; Partner with Product, Tech and Merchandising Presentation to continue elevation of space change recapping.
- Collaborate with Tech/Data Science teams to continue evolving space elasticity modeling for optimization.
- Self-directed, innovative thinker with strong attention to detail. Limited guidance needed to frame business problem. Develop and iterate on appropriate analysis in the face of ambiguity.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Experience with analyzing and visualizing data to identify and to deliver actionable recommendations in a persuasive way to drive business decisions
- Ability to tell clear & concise stories with complex data to effectively communicate findings
- Excellent communication skills in listening, verbal, and written; ability to tailor communications across audiences and to develop effective working relationships with cross functional teams
- Intellectual curiosity and a creative analytical mind
- Experience with identifying data needs and ability to articulate requirements to data engineers
- Creative problem-solving skills, maturity to handle ambiguity, flexibility to perform in a dynamic collaborative environment, and ability to multitask across projects simultaneously
- Ability to project manage and to build relationships with key stakeholders
- Proficient skill level in Microsoft Excel
- Intermediate familiarity with data & reporting solutions such as SQL, Python, Tableau, and Alteryx; strong skills working with large databases with ability to query and prepare data for analysis.
