Adjunct Faculty

  FLSA: Exempt   Temporary/Continuing:  Temporary   Part-Time/Full-Time: Full-Time   Union Group: Ferris Nontenure-Track Faculty Organization (FNTFO) (AFT)   Term of Position: 9 Month   At Will/Just Cause: Just Cause   Summary of Position: We are seeking a 3-year full-time temporary faculty member (9-month contract) to teach face-to-face in one or more of the following degree programs: Building Construction Technology AAS, Civil Engineering Technology AAS, Construction Management BS and Facilities Management BS. The role involves teaching lectures and/or labs in topics related to construction, facilities management, and virtual design and construction. The faculty member is expected to focus on student success, maintain office hours, and integrate current technology in their teaching.

The anticipated start date of this position is August of 2025 at the earliest and January of 2026 at the latest.

Courses are to be taught in person on one of Ferris State University's Campuses. The candidate(s) selected for the position must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment and will perform duties at a Ferris site.   Position Type: Faculty - Temporary & Continuing   Required Education: 1. Master’s degree or higher, in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Construction Technology, Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Facilities Management, or appropriate related field plus five (5) years full-time US commercial, civil, or industrial construction experience (this is required to teach 300 and 400 level courses or lower) OR

2. Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Construction Technology, Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Facilities Management, or appropriate related field and an MBA plus eight years (8) full-time US commercial, civil, or industrial construction experience with increasing levels of responsibility (this is required to teach 300 and 400 level courses or lower) OR

3. Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Construction Technology, Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Facilities Management, or appropriate related field and ten (10) years full-time US commercial, civil, or industrial construction experience with increasing levels of responsibility (this is required to teach 100 and 200 level construction courses).

If a candidate has a higher-level degree (PhD) in Construction Management, five years full-time US construction experience (commercial, civil, or industrial) is required.
If a candidate has a PhD in a closely related field, but not actually Construction Management, the Master's degree must be in Construction Management and five years full-time construction experience (commercial, civil, or industrial) is required.


  Required Work Experience: Full-time construction industry experience (commercial, civil, or industrial) is based upon the candidate’s degree attained. Please see Required Education field.   Required Licenses and Certifications:     Physical Demands:

  Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered: Experience with drafting, plan reading, virtual design and construction (specifically Revit) is preferred.   Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Prepare and deliver up-to-date coursework and course-related materials that meets established course outcomes.
Meet with courses at their scheduled times.
Grade all course content and student work for assigned courses.
Maintain communication with students.
Conduct construction management, building construction technology, civil engineering technology, and/or facilities management classes, labs, or other assignments as directed and in a professional manner.
