OVERVIEW
The Director of Human Resources is accountable for recruiting qualified staff, ensuring compliance with employment laws, and managing all aspects of compensation, benefits, and workers' compensation. This role also includes overseeing the development, implementation, and administration of training programs, as well as providing guidance on employee relations, coaching, counseling, and discipline.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

· Oversee the management of resumes and application files.
· Develop and evaluate recruitment resources.
· Stay up-to-date with Human Resources and Associate regulations and laws, ensuring the property remains compliant.
· Relay new policy updates and directives to all Associates.
· Guide staff in understanding and applying HR policies and procedures.
· Ensure staff adherence to HR policies and procedures.
· Oversee and manage the recruitment, screening, and reference checks
· Approve or recommend Associate transitions such as new hires, transfers, promotions, etc., while fostering a positive, team-oriented environment focused on guest satisfaction through Associate development and motivation.
· Meet with the Corporate HR Management for any updates to policies, staffing, safety, or anything relating to the staff.
· Participate in the safety committee to ensure compliance
· Foster positive Associate relations through coaching, counseling, and discipline.
· Participate in and oversee new hire orientation programs and the safety programs
· Ensure managers are using coaching, counseling, and discipline effectively to address issues.
· Streamline paperwork processes, improve internal communication, and enhance record-keeping practices.
· Maintain and manage all personnel files.
· Manage team member relations, ensuring there is an open door policy in place that is communicated and managed effectively.
· Attend required morning huddle meetings and training sessions as directed by Corporate Management
· Perform other tasks as assigned by the General Manager and Corporate HR Management
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES
· Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and engage employees at all levels
· Strong leadership abilities, with a focus on fostering a positive and productive work environment
· Strong analytical skills to assess data, identify trends, and implement proactive solutions
· Ability to resolve complex employee relations issues
· Superior organization and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
· Experience with HRIS (e.g., Paylocity) and other HR software; strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
· Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion, maintaining a high level of integrity and confidentiality
· In-depth knowledge of employment laws and regulations at the federal, state, and local levels
· Expertise in succession planning, employee development, and performance management processes
EDUCATION
· Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
EXPERIENCE
· 5+ years of experience in HR leadership or management positions, with a focus on recruitment, employee relations, compliance, and compensation/benefits within a hotel setting
· Proven success in talent management and development
· Strong experience with HRIS (Paylocity or similar) and HR-related software
