The Assistant Director of Financial Projects is responsible for providing support, guidance, and expertise defining new operational strategies and functions within Institutional Finance for the university, including project management and planning, budget reporting and analysis, and developing plans for improved policies and procedures. Reporting directly to the Director of Accounting & Financial Reporting, the Assistant Director of Financial Projects serves as a lead for business and project functions within the institution.Job Description:

Serve as liaison with staff, executives and senior leaders regarding project updates, transitions, and planning.
Develop and build relationships with employees for increased efficiency and responsiveness for existing operations.
Work to define new operational strategies by working with Director of Accounting and other executives on special projects.
Serve as a subject-matter expert, developing and managing key financial policies related to financial partnerships with related entities such as The University of Kansas Medical Center (KUMC), KU Endowment Association (KUEA), KUMC Research Institute (RINST) and other affiliated entities.
Collaborate with leaders across the KUMC campuses, KUMC Research Institute (RINST) University of Kansas Health System (UKHS), Kansas Board of Regents (KBOR), KU-Lawrence (KUL), KU Endowment Association (KUEA), University of Kansas Physicians (UKP) and other organizations to advance KUMC objectives and initiatives.
Create business processes, systems, and workflows to be efficient and effective.
Shows eagerness to learn the ins and outs of the field operations to better understand and communicate financial reports and data.
Has a strong business acumen and the ability to grasp complex concepts.

Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related degree.
Work Experience:
Five years of relevant work experience.
Experience in budgeting, financial analysis, and project planning.
Experience in financial statements, debt offerings, cash, and internal controls.
Preferred Qualifications
Education: Master’s degree in related field
Certifications: CPA
Work Experience:
Eight years of relevant work experience.
Public Accounting tax or audit.
Experience with project structure.
Experience with large, complex organizational settings.
