The Boeing Company is currently looking for a Materials Process & Physics Engineer - Fiber Optics Team Lead (Mid-Level, Senior or Subject Matter Expert). This position will be based out of Berkeley, MO.
Position Responsibilities:
Defines requirements for tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes used in the engineering design, manufacture and maintenance of products and approves their use.
Leads production of specifications and other documents to manage the deployment of tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes.
Maintains compliance with contractual and regulatory obligations.
Promotes standardization across business activities.
Evaluates emerging technologies for potential application to business needs.
Leads development and qualification of new tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes to meet requirements.
Integrates new technologies as appropriate.
Manages test and audit programs to qualify suppliers to applicable requirements.
Conducts complex analysis to determine performance or reasons for failures of tools, materials, parts or processes.
Implements corrective and preventive actions.
Leads design, development and qualification of sophisticated computer and production systems to satisfy user requirements.
Uses project management tools to meet cost, technical, and schedule requirements.
Incorporates environmental health and safety, LEAN and Quality principles into (1) materials and processes, (2) research, design and qualification, (3) work procedures and (4) labs and office areas.
Leads others and work statement, assist defining strategies and/or provides consultation.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret clearance Post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
1+ years of experience with Electro Optical (ex: producing specifications, tolerances, simulations, assembly, integration and test of fiber optic (F/O) sensors, systems and components, including sensors, lasers, fiber-optics, and telecommunications products)
Experience working with Fiber Optics
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
5+ years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
10+ years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Bachelor’s degree or higher in aerospace, material science, metallurgical engineering and/or mechanical engineering
Active Security Clearance
3+ years of experience with design, building and testing circuits, mechanical fixtures, as well as basic knowledge of mechanisms and components (relays, switches, connectors, integrated microcircuits, etc.)
5+ years’ experience with Parts, Materials and Processes engineering in the Aerospace industry
Technical leadership and mentorship experience
Typical Education/Experience:
Mid-Level
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience).
