Position Overview
Under general supervision of the Business Administrator (Public Service Administrator), maintains detailed accounting books/subsidiary journals for all control accounts. The accountant prepares and reconciles fund reports/statements, performs routine internal auditing of fiscal documents, and recommends changes/updates to the facility’s fiscal procedures. We are looking for an individual with a strong accounting and/or financial

Essential Functions
- Maintains detailed accounting books and subsidiary journal/ledgers for all locally held funds in both manual and automated environments.
- Performs complex internal auditing of fiscal documents and systems for accuracy, timeliness, and procedural compliance.
- Inputs and performs auditing of documents to the automated Trust Fund Accounting System, and Commodities and Property Inventories.
- Reviews and recommends changes and updates to the institutional fiscal procedures and reporting system.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, with courses in business administration and accounting OR four (4) years of technical accounting experience.
Qualifying state employees in the employee Upward Mobility Program, may complete combinations of specific proficiency tests and training programs leading to a certificate of proficiency in lieu of the stated requirements for this classification.
