Applications from women are encouraged.</p> <p> </p> <p>This post is classified A2-A4 on the Coordinated Organisations’ <u><a href="https://esamultimedia.esa.int/docs/careers/Table_Staff_Salaries.pdf">salary scale</a></u>.</p> <p> </p> <p>Location<br/> ESTEC, Noordwijk, Netherlands  </p> <h2>Description</h2> <p>Instrument Development Coordinator for the Copernicus CO2M mission, (Copernicus Anthropogenic CO2 Monitoring Mission), currently in Phase C.</p> <p> </p> <p>You will report to the CO2M Payload Manager for all technical and programmatic matters and will work within the CO2M Project Team. In particular, you will be responsible for the CO2M Multi Angle Polarimeter (MAP) and the Cloud Imager (CLIM) instruments. The assignment covers the activities related to Phases C/D/E1 for prototype and recurrent satellite(s), including storage where applicable.</p> <p> </p> <p>You will interface with and receive support from other engineers working on the project, as well as from specialised technical support from the Directorate of Technology, Engineering and Quality (D/TEC).</p> <h2>Duties</h2> <p>Under the supervision of the CO2M Payload Manager, you will be technically responsible for the CO2M Multi Angle Polarimeter (MAP) and Cloud Imager (CLIM) prototype and recurrent flight models’ delivery to the CO2M payload. </p> <p><br/> Your responsibilities will include the follow-up of the development, verification, calibration and final validation of the instruments during the in-orbit commissioning, as well as the monitoring of their performance compliance with the requirements and interfaces. </p> <p> </p> <p>Your duties will also involve proactive and close cooperation with members of the satellite and system teams. Specialised engineers will provide functional support, in particular for optical, mechanical, thermal and electrical engineering.</p> <p> </p> <p>Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:</p> <p> </p> <ul> <li>monitoring industrial activities relating to the procurement of the MAP and CLIM instruments, ensuring suitable planning and progress of work;</li> <li>monitoring the design and development of the instrument(s), their interfaces and ground support equipment, ensuring that the procurement instrument(s) will meet engineering requirements within the specified costs and schedule;</li> <li>monitoring the development, assembly, integration, testing and verification of the instrument(s);</li> <li>keeping consistency between instrument(s) and payload/platform interfaces;</li> <li>contributing to the optimisation of the development, assembly, integration, testing and verification programme for the instrument(s);</li> <li>monitoring the incremental implementation of the instrument(s) from unit level up to instrument and satellite integrated level, to demonstrate their qualification, acceptance and associated performance;</li> <li>reviewing instrument assembly, integration and test plans and procedures at instrument and payload/satellite level, attending relevant tests at instrument and payload/satellite level, and reviewing instrument test reports;</li> <li>participating in associated reviews and boards (for instance the NRB and VCB);</li> <li>reviewing the instrument prime contractor development approach and schedule, and monitoring the critical path of the instrument(s), proposing mitigation actions to anticipate risks, or to deal with risks when they materialise at unit or instrument level;</li> <li>monitoring development and maintenance of the models, tools and documentation, including characterisation databases and calibration key data, required for the definition of technical payload budgets and evaluation of the instrument performance;</li> <li>monitoring the delivery of instrument test and verification data to support overall system verification, including the provision of necessary inputs for instrument operations;</li> <li>participating in the definition of the instrument calibration and validation plan, supporting preparation and execution of the instrument in-orbit operations and calibration/validation activities;</li> <li>liaising with other project sections related to all performance-relevant requirements to support the definition and development of algorithms for the conversion of telemetered raw instrument data into calibrated data, for instance in the ground processor prototype and/or E2E simulator;</li> <li>participating in system-level reviews (space/ground segments when relevant) to ensure the suitability of the instrument design and verification programme for meeting performance requiremen
