Job Summary

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Facilities/HVAC Technician located in Buffalo Grove, IL.

Reporting to the manager the potential candidate would be in charge of repairs, modifications and preventative maintenance on building and facilities equipment, fixtures and systems.

What a typical day looks like:

  • Performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled facilities maintenance, preventive maintenance, component replacement and repair tasks, including carpentry, mechanical, security systems and basic non-licensed electrical, plumbing; operates hand and power tools.
  • Inspects facilities, prioritizes necessary repairs, improvements and preventive maintenance; follows all safety rules and regulations to minimize risk and enhance the safety of employees and visitors; checks property and grounds for unsafe conditions, and clears hazards; reports safety conditions, security issues and illegal activities.
  • Works on assigned projects, and makes appropriate decisions based on work experience; duties will vary according to job assignment and individual skills; notifies supervisors of repair problems beyond the scope of authority.
  • Reads and interprets project work orders; identifies material and equipment needs, and organizes supplies and equipment; prepares written reports as required and documents the work performed.
  • Utilizes proper safety precautions in all work performed; reports problems and emergency situations.
  • Cleans up spills and unsafe conditions in a timely manner and according to procedures.
  • Inspects and maintains assigned equipment and small tools for proper operating condition; completes minor repairs on equipment as needed.
  • Operates vehicles and equipment in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures; identifies and reports mechanical problems requiring additional repair.
  • Assists with setup and teardown for special events, and other tasks as directed.
  • Conducts scheduled preventative maintenance and breaks down equipment for clean up.
  • Converses with equipment operators to ascertain problems with equipment before breakdown, and to determine if breakdown is due to human error or mechanical problems.
  • Tests faulty equipment and applies knowledge of functional operation of electronic units and systems to diagnose cause of malfunction.
  • Tests electronic components and circuits to locate defects.
  • Replaces defective components and wiring and adjusts mechanical parts.
  • Verifies proper usage of testing instruments.
  • Enters information into computer to copy program from one electronic component to another, or to draw, modify or to store schematics.
  • Oversees emergency system backup.
  • Ensures plumbing, sewer, water, electrical and mechanical systems are functional.
  • All other duties as assigned.

The experience we’re looking to add to our team:

Proven experience in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining commercial HVAC systems, with a focus on rooftop units (RTUs).
- In-depth knowledge of HVAC system components, including compressors, evaporators, condensers, and control systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex HVAC issues efficiently to ensure minimal downtime.
- Skilled in performing preventive maintenance on commercial HVAC units to enhance system longevity and performance.
- Familiarity with electrical and mechanical schematics related to RTUs and other commercial HVAC equipment.
- Experience with system upgrades, retrofits, and modifications to optimize efficiency.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols and compliance with local codes and regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and specifications.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
