The District Manager (DM) is responsible for directly overseeing their assigned store staff, inventory, sales, and day-to-day operations of all assigned retail locations. Additionally, the DM is responsible for the execution of the merchandising and categorization of inventory in the retail store environments, including cross-merchandising of Hallmark and allied (non-Hallmark) product. The DM collaborates alongside their peers and reports directly to the DoR (Director of Retail).  


 Essential Job Functions  include, but are not limited to :

  • Directs and ensures execution of key product positioning attributes. 
  • Responsible for the day-to-day operations in all assigned retail stores.
  • Serves as a point of escalation for store management.
  • Responsible for store relocation, store remodel, and new store opening processes.
  • Optimizes the organization’s strategic plan through training and development of staff.
  • Is highly-motivated individual who thrives in an ambiguous and ever-changing environment – someone always up for a challenge and inspiring others to learn and think differently.
  • Oversees and administers the Recruiting and Onboarding processes for all store operations.
  • Administers both the sales and performance goals, including retail vision, strategy and plans to drive top-line growth and bottom-line, margin-based profitability.
  • Upholds all company policies and practices.
  • Performs/completes      other duties or special projects as assigned. 
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel 100% of the time,      including overnight trips.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, economics, or other closely related field. An equivalent amount of education, training, and/or experience in retail may substitute the requirement for a bachelor's degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous  DoR or District/Regional Management experience in a specialty retail environment.
  • Previous experience with Hallmark product.
  • Previous experience with Hallmark WIN system, or other POS system.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

  • Expert level of leadership, management, and administrative skills.
  • Ability to drive one’s own vehicle and be able to travel 100% of the time,      including overnight travel.
  • Strong understanding of reporting and analytics.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, coworkers, and staff. 
  • Ability to remain calm and portray a friendly and professional demeanor in stressful situations.
  • Proven leadership ability, as well as strength in building internal partnerships.
  • Hands-on experience in opening brick-and-mortar stores.
  • Strong sense of urgency, flexibility and willingness to adapt to change.
  • Strong understanding of merchandising and retail-related mathematics.
  • Ability to both give and receive feedback and take action when appropriate. 
  • Proficiency and comfort using a computer and other technology.

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Must be able to continuously to drive and/or travel, stand/walk, push/pull,      lift/carry up to 10 pounds, utilize fine finger movement (i.e. keyboard operating, writing, etc.) and tactile/touch to assist with products/customers/registers/equipment/etc., and grasping/gripping/holding with hands and/or fingers.
  • Must be able to frequently sit/remain in a seated position during job performance, climb/work at heights (i.e. step ladders, ladders, etc.),      kneel and squat, lift and/or carry up to 40 pounds, and reach overhead with arms raised above shoulder height/forward reaching. 
  • Must be able to occasionally balance on uneven surfaces/ground and bend at the waist. 
  • Must be able to continuously communicate with customers, co-workers, and vendors, either in-person or over the phone, including speaking, hearing, and sight in order to assist vendors and coworkers.
  • While working, this position may be exposed to tolerance of noise from products and environments, and tolerance of smells/scents of products (i.e. candles,      potpourri, lotions, etc.).

EMPLOYMENT STATUS

This is a regular, full-time, salaried position that is deemed “exempt” by the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and will work a minimum of 40 hours per week. This position will be 100% remote and will require up to 100% travel.
