Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement proof-of-value AI solutions for prioritized use cases (e.g., coding assistants, test script generation, etc.)

• Translate embedded system constraints (e.g. latency and reliability) into model design and deployment strategies

• Stand up reusable pipelines, evaluation mechanisms, and lightweight MLOps patterns using approved platforms (e.g., Databricks, internal tools)

• Collaborate with embedded software teams to integrate AI-enabled tools into existing processes

• Mentor the broader organization on AI concepts and tools through workshops, code walkthroughs, and documentation

• Share outcomes of AI pilots with leadership and link results to measurable business impact (productivity, quality, time savings)

• Partner with IT and governance teams to ensure responsible and compliant AI adoption

• Leveraging the power of teamwork to improve the way Allison develops embedded controls solutions using AI technology will enable broad organizational efficiency gains

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical/computer engineering or related discipline

• Master’s degree in data science preferred

• Must be a US person

Experience:

• 10+ years of experience in embedded systems and software engineering for automotive or related industries

• 8+ years of demonstrated, hands-on experience with design, implementation, and validation of complex control software for embedded systems

• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to frame business challenges into AI opportunities

• Demonstrated ability to design, prototype, and evaluate AI/ML solutions using modern tools and platforms (e.g., Python, PyTorch, Azure Databricks)

Scope Factors:

• Center of expertise for AI technology within the embedded controls organization

• Thought leader within Embedded Systems organization for application of AI technology to product development work flows

• Organization-wide influence and interactions (e.g. product engineering, IT, service, and legal) up to VP level

• External interactions with industry peers and tool vendors primarily through industry conferences

• Establishes AI capability where none exists today to deliver measurable business value
