Job Description:

A Brief Overview

The Outreach & Enrollment Coordinator facilitates insurance enrollment opportunities for community residents lacking access to healthcare coverage. This role provides education, application assistance, and follow-up for programs such as the Health Insurance Marketplace, Medicaid, and other health insurance options. The Coordinator works collaboratively with local organizations, financial counselors, and staff to develop and implement outreach initiatives, educate patients, and increase access to affordable health insurance coverage. The Coordinator supports staff training, stays informed on evolving insurance programs, and assists patients with financial assistance applications. Additionally, the Coordinator ensures compliance with the No Surprise Billing Act by coordinating and providing Good Faith Estimates for patients to provide transparency in healthcare costs.

What you will do

  • Provide unbiased information and guidance to consumers about health insurance options and eligibility requirements, ensuring accurate and timely applications, including the marketplace, qualified health plans, Medicaid, and other health insurance programs.
  • Coordinate and provide Good Faith Estimates for patients in compliance with the No Surprise Billing Act, ensuring cost transparency and adherence to federal regulations.
  • Build and strengthen collaborations with local organizations and departments to enhance enrollment outreach initiatives.
  • Participate in all required training programs, conference calls, and webinars related to federal and state insurance programs.
  • Educate patients about health insurance options, including the Health Insurance Marketplace, Medicaid, and other federal and state programs.
  • Assist patients with completing applications and provide follow-up to ensure enrollment is finalized.
  • Educate eligible patients about the Presumptive Medicaid program and assist with enrollment and eligibility determinations.
  • Develop and implement outreach and enrollment initiatives in collaboration with the Manager and other staff.
  • Collaborate with the Denial Data Analyst to address insurance denials and educate clinics and staff on prevention and resolution strategies.
  • Coordinate education sessions for Financial Counselors on programs such as the Health Insurance Marketplace, Medicaid Modernization, and other insurance options.
  • Stay informed on federal, state, and commercial health coverage programs, ensuring accurate knowledge of eligibility qualifications and patient costs.
  • Assist Medicare-aged patients with enrollment into Medicare and supplemental insurance programs, in collaboration with SHIIP.
  • Educate clinic staff and other health system personnel about available assistance programs for patients and residents.
  • Work with the Contract Manager to understand and communicate details about federal and state programs, insurance contracts, and new insurance initiatives.
  • Screen patients for financial assistance eligibility, ensuring all necessary documentation is obtained and guidelines are met.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of the revenue cycle and issues impacting patient financial responsibility.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, insurance companies, and other departments to resolve account-related inquiries.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of patient accounting systems
  • Collect payments, including co-pays and outstanding balances, and process them accurately.
  • Verify insurance benefits and eligibility to facilitate smooth billing and claims processing.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) Degree or equivalent experience in related area Preferred
  • 1-3 years Healthcare experience in hospital or provider office Required
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience using Excel, Word, and Power Point Required
  • Customer service experience Required
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with patients, staff, and healthcare providers.
