Specialized Clinical Hands-On Care

This isn't just a desk job. As an MA II, you are an essential part of our surgical and diagnostic team. You will gain hands-on experience and play a vital role in specialized Urology Procedures, including:

  • In-Office Surgical Support: Handle full room set-up and assist physicians during minor surgical procedures.
  • Advanced Diagnostics: Perform phlebotomy, EKG’s, and assist with X-ray and physician therapy procedures.
  • Clinical Excellence: Manage catheterizations, bladder scans, and assist with specialized urological screenings and tests.
  • Patient Advocacy: Provide vital education on urological disease management, medications, and home treatments.
  • Workflow Leadership: Manage room turnover, update EMR records (scribing as assigned), and help train new personnel.

  • Education: Graduate of a Medical Assistant program.
  • Certification: CMA or RMA .
  • Experience: 6+ months in a physician’s office (Urology experience is highly desired).

GENERAL SUMMARY 

The Medical Assistant II (MA II) supports the delivery of urological services, performs work as required and functions as an effective member of the interdisciplinary team. The Medical Assistant II is tasked to perform routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep the medical offices running smoothly. This position collaborates/work with staff within their practice or other professional disciplines within the affiliated medical groups as needed to achieve effective and efficient patient care delivery and the desired patient outcomes.  

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION/COMPETENCIES

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • The MA II will perform various administrative and clinical duties under the direction of their assigned direct supervisor.
  • The MA II will consistently confer with physicians, nursing, and other staff members to coordinate and schedule appointments of patients.
  • Performs additional responsibilities within the office that encompasses at least 50% of their daily time.
  • Greets and prepare patients.
  • Measures and records vital signs.
  • Records patient interview, history, and chief complaint.
  • Provides patient education with regards to medications, management of diseases, home treatments and special diets.
  • Prepares patients for examinations and performs routing screening tests.
  • Assists physicians with exams.
  • Preforms phlebotomy and collection of other lab specimens. Performs basic lab tests.
  • Performs EKG’s.
  • Assists with X-ray and physician therapy procedures.
  • Prepares and administers medications with physician authorization.
  • Change dressings, applies bandages, removes sutures and other first aid procedures.
  • Uses CPR skills when necessary.
  • Prepares accurate, legal, and ethical documentation at all times.
  • Opens office in the morning and closes in the afternoon.
  • Assist in maintaining patient logs for the following: Lab requests, CT scans and other treatment orders for the patients.
  • Maintains prescription ledger when needed.
  • Ensures the back office has good flow, keeps rooms full and assists with room turnover.
