The Team
The Membership Director is responsible for the membership acquisition, retention and directly supports the executive oversight of the membership team to the maintenance and development of influential relationships that positively support local and visiting members. As the Membership Director, you are available to members, guests, staff, and leadership to address inquiries, problem solve and provide solutions that can include but are not limited to managing access to the club and preserving club guidelines and conduct. Collaborate with the events team in suggesting and attending member events and benefits. Oversee the membership team including administrative team members and take responsibility for annual membership goals.
The Role
- Data-Driven Leadership: Leverage data-driven analytics and community relationships to ensure proper processes, effective programs, and technology are in place for recruitment, pipeline management, process optimization, and member retention.
- Membership Team Oversight: Ensure the membership team is productive in generating appropriate member applications. Liaise as necessary to resolve any issues related to cards, payments, or applicant paperwork.
- Strategic Decision Making: Collaborate with internal and external decision-makers to support business growth, set budgets, and develop new concepts. Make informed decisions on member renewals and other strategic initiatives.
- Member Relations and Presence: Maintain a constant presence at the property, acting as the 'face' of the Club to members. Lead or oversee new member introductions, ensuring members understand benefits, rules, and opportunities. Actively engage with new members, explaining your role and encouraging communication.
- Events Program Management: Play an active role in creating and implementing the members' events program. Collaborate with the events team to ensure well-planned and communicated events. Facilitate member participation in events and suggest new event formats.
- Enforcement of Club Policies: Work with members to ensure understanding of property rules. Administer warnings, suspensions, and membership terminations where appropriate. Partner closely with Front Desk members and operational teams to oversee inappropriate behaviors.
- Team Leadership and Development: Oversee Membership Managers and ensure the execution of sufficient member pipelines and member events.
- Community Engagement: Engage actively in the local creative and club scenes, events, parties, launches, and social settings. Build contacts, network, and raise awareness about the club, its facilities, and the Membership and Community Engagement Director role.
- Event Management and VIP Relations: Play a central role in organizing guest lists for major events, both on and off-site. Facilitate access for members and VIPs. Coordinate access for high-profile celebrities and personalities, ensuring excellent service. Educate management and staff on generating applications from potential new members.
- Educational Initiatives:Identify and recruit new committee members to enhance club initiatives.
