Summary:  

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Sr Manager, Supplier Quality Assurance with experience in battery manufacturing or advanced energy storage technologies. This role is critical to ensuring the quality and consistency of materials sourced from global suppliers and used in the production of lithium-ion and other advanced battery chemistries.

 

Responsibilities :

• Develop and implement supplier quality priorities that align with the company’s manufacturing and performance standards for battery systems.
• Evaluate, qualify, and audit new and existing suppliers of critical battery components and raw materials.
• Work closely with R&D, procurement, and production teams to support supplier onboarding and ensure alignment with technical specifications.
• Drive APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) and PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) activities with suppliers to validate new parts and process changes.
• Monitor supplier performance metrics (PPM, delivery, audit scores) and lead improvement initiatives where needed.
• Manage supplier non-conformance, root cause analysis (RCA), and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) using structured problem-solving tools like 8D, DMAIC, or Ishikawa.
• Ensure compliance with industry-specific quality and safety standards such as IATF 16949 and UN/DOT battery transport regulations.
• Maintain documentation such as quality agreements, risk assessments, audit reports, and control plans.
• Collaborate with suppliers on continuous improvement projects involving process capability, yield improvement, and defect reduction.
• Support battery cell and pack traceability initiatives through supplier quality data integration.

 

Qualifications and Requirements :

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in quality within a Tier 1 automotive environment strongly desired
• Minimum of 5 years of experience leading and managing a team strongly desired
• Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, quality or related field required
• Significant proven experience with IATF standards, as well as in quality assurance activities/tools (PPAP, PFMEA, SPC, Gage R&R, Calibration systems, corrective & preventative actions, etc.)
• Six Sigma certification preferred
• Proven problem solving experience (Eight Disciplines Methodology (8D), Corrective Actions, etc.)
• Battery manufacturing or chemical manufacturing experience highly desired, but not required
• Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills
• Willingess to travel domestically and internationally
• Must be able to properly and regularly utilize the following Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for a period of up to 12 hours

  • Steel-toed shoes
• Must be able to do perform the following over the course of up to 12 hours per day
  • Stand for lengthy periods

 

Skills:

• Proven expertise in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), including experience with inspection equipment, measurement techniques, and root cause failure analysis
• Strong understanding of statistical tools and methodologies such as capability studies, statistical distributions, and process analysis
• Hands-on experience with machine and assembly processes, structured problem-solving approaches, and core quality tools including Process Flow Diagrams (PFD), Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), Control Plans, Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), 8D reports, and Five Whys
