About the Director, Compliance Program at Headspace:

This position serves as the focal point of responsibility for the effective design, development and implementation of the company-wide compliance program at Headspace.  The Director of Compliance serves as the liaison between care services leaders and the compliance team, and leads enterprise collaborations with key stakeholders, including but not limited to, finance & revenue cycle, product engineering, care operations and people operations. The Director of Compliance works closely with leadership across the organization to establish an industry leading compliance program, develop a culture of compliance and effectively drive initiatives that forward the goals of the Compliance Committee and the organization.

What you will do:

  • Provide leadership and oversight for all areas of the Headspace Compliance Program, team, and initiatives. 
  • Develop and promote a culture of compliance across the organization that supports a distributed model of compliance throughout the organization. 
  • Oversee the development of companywide compliance training and recommend proactive measures that will reduce the risk of potential violations or non-compliance.
  • In collaboration with the Chief Compliance Officer, develop and implement annual work plans (KRs),  annual risk assessments and corrective action plans. Oversee and drive the cross-functional work streams required to accomplish these initiatives. 
  • In collaboration with the Chief Compliance Officer, responsible for the governance of the Headspace Compliance Program (e.g. Compliance Committee management,  Board of Director and Audit Committee reports and presentations).
  • Provide oversight for internal investigations or alleged violations of ethics and compliance standards, ensuring proper documentation and report findings as needed. This role may also be responsible for running investigations end to end depending on internal resourcing and the nature of the investigations.  
  • Oversee internal audits of company processes to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures as well as applicable federal, state, and non-U.S. laws. 
  • Work with operational partners to establish methods, such as periodic audits, to improve the efficiency and quality of services and to reduce vulnerability to fraud, waste and abuse.
  • Responsible for driving regulatory audits in collaboration with the subject matter experts across the organization (e.g. Care Services quality audits and RCM payor audits)
  • Develop communication strategies, plans and content on relevant laws, regulations and policies focusing on high risk areas and hot topics in healthcare (e.g. telehealth and behavioral health).  
  • Serve as a resource and subject matter expert for all compliance-related activities, responding to compliance questions, concerns, and complaints from individuals throughout the organization, as well as external sources.

What you will bring:

Required Skills:

  • 5+ years of experience in a Compliance leadership role.
  • Experience in developing new functional areas in organizations and building teams to support those functions.
  • Prior relevant experience in healthcare organizations with multi-state footprint.  
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of state and federal laws and regulations pertaining to healthcare compliance.
  • Extensive experience resolving and escalating issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.
  • A proven ability to work cross functionally and with the senior leadership team and upper management to achieve regulatory and compliance objectives with support from internal business partners including operations, care services, and product teams among others.
  • The ability to assess and prioritize risks, allocate resources, and effectively work with relevant stakeholders on plans to mitigate such risks.

Pay & Benefits:

The base salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors, including but not limited to skills and scope required, relevant licensure and certifications, and unique relevant experience and job-related skills. The base salary range for this role is $140,000 - $190,000.
