STAFF/SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

Seaport Global Holdings LLC, a mid-sized, independent investment bank, seeks a full-time Staff Accountant to join our Accounting team in our New Orleans, LA office. Please note, this is not a remote position.  
The Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting in the day-to-day, month-end and year-end accounting for Seaport’s foreign operations. The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive and has a strong work ethic. 

Responsibilities

• Maintain daily bank activity in the accounting system
• Manage multiple currencies and currency conversions
• Prepares journal entries that are accurate with supporting documentation
• Review general ledger coding for accuracy
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts accurately, timely and with analytical support; creates adjusting entries as appropriate
• Investigate and resolve questionable vendor invoices
• Monitor accounts payable email account
• Post customer payments in the accounting system
• Prepares financial statements with notes and supporting schedules (as needed)
• Prepare documentation for tax accountants and external auditors
• Participate in projects and assignments as needed to support department goals
• Assist in gathering support for annual audits/tax preparation/compliance reporting

Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting or related area of study with superior record of academic achievement
• Professional experience in an Accounting department (2-3 years, minimum) 
• Strong computational, analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
