Provides leadership, direction, scientific knowledge and expertise in the development, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of the Infection Prevention and Control Program. Manages the operation of the Infection Prevention and Control Program and Services to ensure patient and personnel safety, alignment with UHC’s strategic goals, and compliance with State and Federal regulatory and accreditation mandates. Responsible for analyzing, coordinating, and evaluating all infection prevention and control practices within all hospital departments and hospital clinics. Manages, coordinates, and evaluates all elements of financial, operations, and human resources in infection prevention department.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1. Current Licensure as Registered Nurse in state of WV.
2. Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
3. Certification in Infection Control.
EXPERIENCE:
1. Five (5) years’ experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute care setting.
2. Five (5) years’ experience in infection prevention.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1. Master’s Degree in Nursing.
EXPERIENCE:
1. One (1) year of supervisory experience.

1. Manages and coordinates all hospital activities related to disease transmission with emphasis on education, patient care issues and associate safety.
2. Selects, hires, manages and evaluates the performance and effectiveness of employees and facilitate the professional development of all staff to ensure clinical practice competence.
3. Lead and coordinate facility risk assessments, healthcare associated infection reviews, surveillance plans, and construction infection control risk assessments
4. Serves as an educational resource for infection prevention and control and health care epidemiology by coordinating the development, delivery, and evaluation of educational programs or tools that relate to infection prevention, control and epidemiology.
5. Monitors health-care associated infections.
6. Assesses infection prevention and control problems and makes recommendations for corrective action.
7. Prepares the agenda for the Infection Prevention and Control Committee.
8. Initiates and revises infection prevention and control policies and procedures.
9. Provides assistance to department managers in development of infection prevention and control departmental policies.
10. Reports communicable diseases to the local health departments and state as required by law.
11. Provides educational presentations for orientation and ongoing in-services related to current recommendations and mandate as needed.
12. Consults with department leadership and physicians as needed to improve care delivery.
13. Serves as a resource for all departments and personnel.
14. Participates in performance improvement activities and committees.
15. Participates in short and long-range planning for the infection prevention and control department.
16. Provides consultation to Employee Health related to exposure determination, personnel infections, follow-up and current healthcare personnel vaccination recommendations.
17. Conducts outbreak investigations and initiates control measures.
18. Round on hospital units – correct deficiencies as needed and make referrals as necessary when problems noted; observe staff activities and provide feedback when deviations in practice are noted – provide one on one feedback.
19. Directs and reviews environmental sampling as necessary.
20. Participate and provide oral and written infection prevention recommendations for all construction, renovation, remediation, repair or demolition as part of a multidisciplinary team during preplanning, demolition, construction and commissioning.
21. Collects, prepares and analyzes healthcare-associated infection data; presents data to leadership and stakeholders.
22. Provides internal and external reporting of information and data as required by law, accreditation requirements and regulatory mandates.
