The successful candidate must reside within a maximum 60-minute travel distance of the primary location for response to emergencies at the rest area when on call.  If a candidate is relocating to meet the travel distance requirement, relocation must occur within 90 days of the first day of work.

LOCATION: Stanfield Rest Area (I-84, Milepost 186.5). and paired with the Boardman Rest Area (I-84, Milepost 160.9)

JOB TYPE: Full-time (40 hours per week including weekends; days off are Monday & Tuesday), Limited Duration- 6 months.

Your New Role – Rest Area Specialist!

TIC Rest Area Specialist assists in the day-to-day operations and maintenance of a rest area. Assist the Rest Area Supervisor and help oversee the facility, provide janitorial, landscaping, and maintenance services, and oversee contractors or licensed personnel performing work. Provide customer service to travelers, and serve as a field representative to other agencies, partners, and the public. **Please note that job duties may vary by location. Training will be provided as needed to enable employees to use specific equipment.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

• Four years of maintenance experience (e.g., construction trades, landscaping) AND customer service-related experience (e.g. providing people with information and assistance, etc.),
• A Bachelor's degree and one (1) year of maintenance experience (e.g., construction trades, landscaping) AND customer service-related experience (e.g. providing people with information and assistance, etc.), OR
• An Associate's degree and two (2) years of maintenance experience (e.g., construction trades, landscaping) AND customer service-related experience (e.g. providing people with information and assistance, etc.).

Special Requirements/Licenses: You must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record. You also must obtain and maintain First Aid/CPR certification from an agency-accepted certification authority.

• Experience with basic plumbing, carpentry, electrical, masonry, asphalting, painting, janitorial and groundskeeping or other construction.

• Experience with Microsoft Office computer operations; appropriate state and federal safety and personal protective safety policies, laws, regulations, practices, and procedures
• Snow removal experience (using snow blowers, snowplows, sanding or deicing)

• Experience communicating effectively with the public, law enforcement, and agency officials.
• Skill in reading, understanding, and applying specifications found in manuals, guidelines, and plans.
• Excellent time management skills including the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
