About the role

Description

Bay State Community Services is seeking a compassionate, energetic, and dependable Full-Time Youth Advocate (Temporary, Summer) to join our Coastal Emergency Residence team. This temporary summer position provides direct care and supervision to youth residing in a short-term residential program. Youth Advocates play a vital role in creating a safe, structured, and supportive environment while helping youth develop the skills needed to achieve their personal goals.


This is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in behavioral health, psychology, social work, criminal justice, education, or human services who are looking to gain meaningful, hands-on experience working with adolescents.

What You Will Be Doing to Make a Difference... 

  • Provide direct supervision and support to youth in a residential setting.
  • Foster a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with youth through mentorship and engagement.
  • Assist youth with daily living skills, routines, and recreational activities.
  • Support youth in achieving individualized treatment and behavioral goals.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required 
  • 1 year experience working with adolescents is preferred (not required)
  • Residential experience preferred
  • Experience with systems (e.g. DMH, DCF) preferred
  • Additional languages desirable, though not required
  • Able to learn, carry out and be certified in CPI physical interventions, and de-escalation techniques
  • Able to learn, carry out and be certified in CPR and first aid
