Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS), Space Mission Systems seeks an Associate or Experienced Propulsion Systems Engineer to join our Propulsion Subsystem and Mission Operations Groups located in El Segundo, CA, where you will work on the design, build, test and operation of new space vehicles and missions. The ideal candidate will have a background in Systems Engineering, Liquid Propulsion, Electric Propulsion, and/or Mission Operations in the field of Propulsion.

This position would entail operating as the propulsion systems engineering lead for one or more satellite systems programs.  Responsibilities include requirements decomposition, requirement verification and validation, systems analysis, systems interface definition, systems test support and post-launch mission support.  Technologies involved in the position will include some combination of liquid propulsion, electric propulsion, and associated liquid and gas plumbing.

This position offers exciting opportunities to support a variety of programs and technologies in a dynamic work environment.

This position is required to be 100% onsite in El Segundo, CA.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Define requirements for liquid and electric propulsion systems.

  • Coordinates and controls the functional and physical interfaces between the propulsion system and the vehicle.

  • Develop specifications and architectural and configuration concepts for associated vehicle systems to meet customer and regulatory requirements.

  • Configure and/or design propulsion subsystems and components to meet all vehicle design and performance criteria.

  • Use various testing, analysis, modeling and simulation tools to estimate or calculate system performance.

  • Define and supports certification tests for propulsion sub-systems and components.

  • Develop concepts for future propulsion systems to meet anticipated requirements.

This position requires an active U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance and a current Tier 5 (T5), formerly known as a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) (U.S. Citizenship required).

Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience)

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • Level 2: typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications

  • Level 3: typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with space-based propulsion and/or electric propulsion.

  • Experience with space-based propulsion mission operations
