Short Description

The Advanced Practice Nurse assumes responsibility for advanced nursing practice within a clinical specialty. In consultation with other members of the health care team, it strengthens nursing practice and promoting positive patient outcomes. The Advanced Practice Nurse serves as a significant member of the multidisciplinary health care team in the inpatient, outpatient, and community settings.

Education Requirements

Graduate from a master's level program.

Graduate from an NLN approved School of Nursing.

License/Certification Requirements

• NJ RN License.
• NJ APN License.
• Certificate in Specialty area as needed.
• Current BLS certification.

 

Special Requirements

• Demonstrates effective written and oral communication skills and interpersonal skills.
• Prescriptive practice is based on the development of written joint protocols with collaborating physicians.
• These protocols are reviewed, updated and signed yearly.
• Receives approval from the Nurse Credentialing Committee.
