SQL Database Engineer

Planet Technologies, a Microsoft Gold Partner, is looking for a Top Secret cleared, highly motivated individual with excellent technical skills to join our team as a Database Engineer. This position in a fast-paced, mission-sensitive, highly advanced and integrated IT environment. Experience implementing solutions in sensitive Government environments is highly preferred.

Primary responsibilities

• Partnering with leadership on cloud database strategy, roadmap, design and implementation standards
• Migrating content from on premise SQL to cloud service (Azure SQL Manage Service)
• Establishing and maintaining maintenance plans for a large SQL cluster environment
• Experience designing and maintaining SharePoint lists
• Evaluating emerging data & database technologies and recommend solutions
• Certifying, automating, building and supporting cloud native data & database platforms
• Designing databases to reflect the need of front-end and back-end users
• Creating stored procedures for application programming interfaces (APIs)
• Monitoring systems performance and identifying problems that may arise
• Recommending changes and enhancements for database protection
• Protecting the database from threats and unauthorized access
• Maintaining an awareness of trends and developments in database administration
• Design, document, test and implement solutions for monitoring, maintenance and performance
• Support hardware and software technology upgrades
• Review performance, capacity, workload and take actions
• Proactively work on database enhancements to improve system performance and stability

Skills and Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience with IT
• BA or BS degree
• Experience working with AWS or Azure clouds
• Experience with one or more of the following; MS SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, MariaDB, SharePoint content databases

• Education: Bachelors Degree
• Experience: 5+ years
• Clearance: Active Top Secret
• Work Location: 50% in Washington, DC
