Job Summary: The Medical Assistant provides support in the clinical and office functions of the department. The incumbent serves as a key contact for patients visiting the department, greeting patients, explaining tests and procedures, and answering questions. Coordinates paperwork for patient visit, prepares patient for exams and tests, and serves as a resource to assist patients and staff. Schedules tests and visits, performs administrative/clerical duties, and provides backup to other staff to ensure efficient patient processing.
Specifications: High school graduate. Must have completed certification as a Medical Assistant. Requires CPR certification and 3-5 years experience in administrative/medical setting. Knowledge of medical terminology, computer competency, knowledge of transcription, and strong typing skills needed. Must have strong organizational and interpersonal skills and demonstrated maturity to work with terminally ill patients. Proficiency in the English language and flexibility in hours needed for possible weekends and evenings.
