About the role

Systems Manufacturing Engineer

Full-Time | Manufacturing Engineering | Electrical Systems Focus

Build Innovative Electro-Mechanical Systems That Make an Impact

Are you a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer who enjoys solving real production challenges? We're looking for a Systems Manufacturing Engineer to join our Systems Manufacturing Group (SMG), supporting the production of complex electro-mechanical assemblies and systems.

This is an ideal opportunity for an engineer who thrives on the manufacturing floor-not behind a desk. You'll work closely with technicians, quality, engineering, purchasing, and production leadership to troubleshoot systems, improve manufacturing processes, and help deliver high-quality products efficiently and safely.

If you enjoy problem-solving, continuous improvement, and making manufacturing processes better every day, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Do

As a Systems Manufacturing Engineer, you'll play a key role in supporting production from new product introduction through final assembly and testing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support production builds from release through final assembly and system testing.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and electro-mechanical manufacturing issues involving:
    • Wiring and cable assemblies
    • Sensors and controls
    • Solenoids
    • Power supplies
    • Grounding
    • Pneumatic and vacuum systems
    • Heaters and thermal controls
    • Safety interlocks and E-Stops
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, cable and harness drawings, mechanical drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and customer specifications.
  • Create and improve:
    • Work instructions
    • Test procedures
    • Checklists
    • Troubleshooting guides
    • As-built documentation
  • Support engineering change orders (ECOs/ECNs), BOM revisions, redline updates, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and production issue resolution.
  • Assist with new product introduction (NPI), first-build readiness, and production readiness activities.
  • Design practical manufacturing improvements including fixtures, tooling, assembly aids, cable routing enhancements, and test setups.
  • Drive improvements in safety, quality, repeatability, production flow, and manufacturing efficiency.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with electro-mechanical assembly or systems integration.
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting skills in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing floor operations in a high-mix production environment.
  • Experience developing or improving manufacturing documentation.
  • Working knowledge of:
    • 24 VDC control systems
    • Relays
    • Safety interlocks
    • E-Stops
    • Power supplies
    • Sensors
    • Grounding
    • Machine safety concepts
  • Strong communication skills with cross-functional teams including engineering, production, quality, purchasing, and technicians.
  • Organized, collaborative, and solutions-oriented approach with the ability to drive issues through resolution.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in one or more of the following is highly desirable:

  • Semiconductor equipment
  • Medical device or life sciences manufacturing
  • Automation or robotics
  • Capital equipment manufacturing
  • Contract manufacturing
  • Complex electro-mechanical systems
  • Electrical panel layout
  • Cable harness fabrication
  • Point-to-point wiring
  • Functional testing and system acceptance testing
  • PLC I/O troubleshooting
  • Motors, flow switches, heaters, thermal controls, and solenoids
  • ERP/MRP systems (Epicor preferred)
  • SolidWorks or similar CAD software
  • Root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • New Product Introduction (NPI)
  • First-build or production readiness reviews
  • DOE or structured problem-solving methodologies

Education & Experience

We welcome candidates with a variety of educational and professional backgrounds.

Ideal candidates will have:

  • 5–8 years of relevant manufacturing engineering experience

We will also consider:

  • Engineers with 2–5 years of experience and a relevant engineering degree.
