Job Description:

To perform complex and detailed carpentry work related to buildings, structures, furniture, cabinets and other wooden items that require a high degree of precision. 

Job Duties

Build high quality book cases, tables, lockers cabinets, door frames, sand finishes, stains and varnishes. Install and fine trim around lights. Electrical fixtures, doors, windows, closets and finishes high grade carpentry projects. - 45%

Install and repair locks, mortise doors and other construction related detailed work, install door closures, panic devices and door mullions. Construct support ceiling grid and install drop ceilings repair floor tile and install base board. -40%

Operates a plainer, sharper, joiner, drill press, mortising, machine, jig saw, rips saw, cut off saw. -5%

Estimates materials as needed and perform other duties as needed to ensure the smooth flow within the Residential Life Buildings. -5%

Other duties as assigned. -5%

Minimum Qualifications:

Three years of experience in the carpentry trade.
 
SUBSTITUTIONS:
Training in the carpentry trade will substitute for a maximum of two years of the required experience on a month for month basis.

Special or Physical Qualifications:

Due to the nature of this position and/or position responsibilities this position shall be subject to drug/alcohol testing in accordance with University Policy Statement 67. 
In accordance with PS-18 this position maybe required to report or stay on campus in the event of emergency or closure. 

Ability to work in all weather conditions. Overtime and Weekend Work. Ability to lift 50 pounds. Climb ladders. Ability to stoop, kneel, and bend for extended periods.  Due to the position's physical requirements, a pre-employment physical examination will be required per FASOP: HR-04.
