About the role
The Senior Infrastructure Engineer shall provide senior level systems management, engineering, and O&M services that include the design, deployment, administering, maintaining, and operating of information technology infrastructure support systems.
Position requirements and duties of the Senior Infrastructure Engineer:
- Design, implement, and provide ongoing support of the current infrastructure systems and future IT infrastructure systems introduced into the various FBI enterprise environments.
- Provide senior level expertise on systems supporting and managing endpoints, such as HCL BigFix Endpoint Management, Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM), Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Defender, Red Hat Satellite, and other large-scale endpoint management solutions.
- Have experience in monitoring, detecting, implementing, supporting, and delivering security solutions such as vulnerability assessment and remediation, using monitoring tools such as Azure Log Analytics, Security Center, Azure Monitor, Network Watcher, diagnostic and other activity logs, and resolutions such as deployment of antivirus updates, security patches, and application of hardening configurations.
- Perform daily and regular maintenance activities, such as downloading, installing, and testing patches, performing routine upgrades/updates, and performing break-fix activities in response to incident management.
- Create and generate reports in response to audit requests for infrastructure systems and/or enterprise endpoints, as well as maintain a mechanism for reporting using tools such as Web Console, Web Reports, and PowerBI.
- Use monitoring dashboards, custom automated processes, and reporting tools to surveille and troubleshoot infrastructure issues in coordination with other services and divisions as necessary.
- Manage services that support the ITB production enterprise on enclaves including but not limited to Unclassified, Secret, Top-Secret, and Transport.
- Support other environments including but not limited to Test, Development, Data Recovery, User Acceptance Training/Quality Assurance, IPP, and other enclaves encompassing the Infrastructure Division.
- Perform governance activities for change management.
- Possess understanding of cloud concepts such as IaaS, PaaS, SaaS and how it relates to security.
- Evaluate, improve, and maintain the information security as needed throughout the ITB infrastructure.
- Work in hybrid environment of virtualized and cloud platforms.
- Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability.
- Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with developers to implement those fixes.
- Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies.
- Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks.
- Participate in the design of information and operational support systems and discuss, propose, and implement solutions.
- Provide 4th level support.
- Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution.
- Ensure technical documentation exists for all systems and is kept up to date to include inventory and patch levels of all systems to include hostnames, property numbers, IP addresses, enclave, number of cores, number of processors, admin passwords, certificates, and service accounts on a monthly interval.
- Integrate systems with authentication and core services dependencies such single sign-on and Active Directory. Engineer and implement solutions for multi factor authentication with FBI standardized software and hardware.
- Document system configurations to include passwords, access controls, version number, and revision numbers, patch levels, and inventory to include hostnames, TCP/IP addresses, number of processors, and number of cores, memory, and license keys.
- Continually transition knowledge to the Government staff through training and assistance on how to use the technology using industry best practices.
Required Skills:
- Must have a current Top-Secret Clearance with the capability of obtaining SCI / CI-Poly if needed to meet contract requirements
- Minimum of eight years of experience
- Bachelor’s degree
