POSITION OVERVIEW
The United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Texas is charged with enforcing federal criminal laws and with representing the federal government in civil litigation in the district. The United States Attorney's office for the Southern District of Texas is seeking (4) System Support Specialist (one in each location listed), in our Brownsville, Corpus Christi, Laredo and McAllen office, and (5) General Clerk (one in each location listed) in our Houston, Brownsville, Corpus Christi, Laredo and McAllen office. The contractor shall provide these individuals, to perform the duties outlined below with the skills necessary to successfully meet the Government's requirements
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Receives telephone calls and visitors to the office
- Controls access to the office and insures only visitors properly cleared are authorized entry
- Notifies staff members of visitors or incoming telephone calls
- Maintains telephone switchboard equipment
- Enforces pertinent administrative rules and regulations governing facility access
- Receives, reviews, or distributes incoming mail or packages after screening
- May respond to inquiries via phone, email, letters, and fax, evaluate information received and determine appropriate information to be provided, or to whom the inquiry should be referred to.
- Coordinates and prepares travel itineraries for case witnesses or litigation staff, as well as other duties as may be assigned to facilitate the efficiency of the program area.
- Opening/closing cases in Caseview, print and assemble new case files, if needed
- Provide litigation support by working with Duty AUSA's and Legal Assistants on the coordination and notification of the new arrest notices
- Communicate court docket changes to legal staff and check daily court calendars for additions/deletions. File incoming appeal files to corresponding criminal files
- Government vehicles (GOV) – Monitoring of binders for keys, Wex Card, receipts, completion of mileage log sheets. Assist with inventory to include submission of excess property.
Required Qualifications:
- Skill in operating a computer to produce a wide range of documents, create spreadsheets or databases
- Must meet the DOJ Residency Requirements
- Must pass the background clearance check, SF-85P+PS (High Risk, Public Trust Position, and No National Security Sensitivity)
