Director of Schools – Nevada Region (Nellis Campus Launch)

Location: Nevada (On-site, full-time; not a remote role)
Position Type: Full-Time, In-Person
Salary Range: $105,000 – $130,000 annually (DOE)

AMS Impact Group (AIG) is the education management organization that supports the Academies of Math and Science (AMS), a high-performing network of K–8 nonprofit public charter schools serving more than 10,000 scholars across Arizona and Arkansas. With over 20 years of success, AMS is expanding into Nevada and is launching a new campus in Nellis.

Position Overview

AMS Impact Group is seeking an experienced and mission-driven Director of Schools to support the launch, growth, and performance of our Nevada region, beginning with the new AMS Nellis campus.

This role provides executive-level leadership, coaching, and accountability to school principals and leadership teams. The Director of Schools ensures every campus consistently meets AMS standards for academics, operations, and culture while supporting leaders in building high-performing, student-centered schools.

This position is fully on-site and requires frequent campus presence to support coaching, observation, systems implementation, and leadership development.

Key Responsibilities

Principal Leadership & Coaching

  • Directly coach, develop, and manage school principals to ensure strong instructional leadership and campus performance.

  • Conduct regular on-site school visits, including classroom observations, leadership meetings, and coaching sessions.

  • Support principals in setting priorities, analyzing root causes, and executing action plans.

  • Lead principal onboarding, development, and performance management.

  • Develop leadership pipelines and succession plans for long-term growth.

Instructional Excellence & Scholar Achievement

  • Ensure consistent implementation of AMS instructional models, curriculum, and pedagogical expectations.

  • Monitor academic performance data and key indicators to drive continuous improvement.

  • Support professional development systems, observation cycles, and data-driven instruction.

  • Ensure alignment to network instructional frameworks and quality standards.

School Culture & Operations Oversight

  • Partner with school leaders to build strong cultures grounded in high expectations, consistency, and belonging.

  • Support operational excellence including enrollment, attendance, retention, special education, and compliance.

  • Assist principals in staffing, retention, and campus operational challenges.

  • Serve as an escalation point for complex family or campus concerns.

Data, Systems & Accountability

  • Analyze academic, operational, and culture data to guide strategy and school improvement.

  • Monitor leading performance indicators and proactively address risks.

  • Ensure schools meet or exceed network benchmarks and outperform comparable schools.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The Director of Schools is a seasoned educational leader who:

  • Has a proven record of improving outcomes in K–8, Title I, or similar school settings.

  • Is an exceptional coach who develops leaders through feedback, modeling, and accountability.

  • Believes in consistent instructional systems and high-quality curriculum.

  • Thrives in fast-paced, high-accountability environments.

  • Is deeply committed to equity and serving underserved communities.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • Valid Nevada Administrator License required (or eligibility to obtain prior to start).

  • Minimum 6+ years of successful experience as a school principal, preferably in K–8 or Title I settings.

  • Prior K–8 classroom teaching experience.

  • Demonstrated success improving academic performance, school culture, and staff retention.

  • Proven experience coaching and developing school leaders.

  • Strong data analysis, project management, and organizational skills.
