Company Overview: Wabtec’s KinetiX team is dedicated to the design, delivery, and support of KinetiX inspection technologies products for railroads worldwide. The KinetiX Inspection Technologies suite offers automated proactive monitoring solutions for rolling stock condition, ranging from component-level to full train inspection.
Position Overview:
The Quality Engineering Lead for KinetiX Wayside Vision Inspection Systems will play a pivotal role in elevating the system test discipline for our cutting-edge railway inspection technologies. This individual will be responsible for shaping and executing comprehensive software and hardware validation strategies, driving systemic quality improvements, and ensuring rigorous acceptance standards are met for complex integrated systems. The role requires a hands-on leader who excels in both test strategy and cross-functional collaboration, capable of leading a small core team while leveraging expertise from across engineering groups to deliver world-class solutions
Key Responsibilities:
Advance the system test discipline for KinetiX Wayside vision inspection systems through process innovation, adoption of best practices, and development of robust test methodologies.
Design, implement, and maintain test plans and validation protocols for both software and hardware components of the solution.
Define and evolve the overall quality engineering architecture, including tools, environments, and CI/CD integration.
Lead a focused group of quality engineers and test specialists, providing mentorship, technical guidance, and performance feedback.
Develop and execute comprehensive final acceptance testing strategies that align with customer requirements, security expectations and regulatory standards.
Coordinate and collaborate with cross-functional teams—drawing on expertise from software, hardware, systems, and field engineering—to ensure thorough and efficient end-to-end testing, including performance and FMEA testing.
Oversee defect management, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions throughout the product lifecycle.
Monitor and report key quality metrics to management, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.
Stay current with advances in test automation, vision inspection technology, and quality assurance standards relevant to railway systems.
Act as an advocate for quality across the organization, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field. Master’s degree preferred.
A minimum of 10 years of professional experience OR Master’s degree with 8 years of experience
Proven experience in system-level software testing and validation, setup of test simulation environments, ideally with complex, safety-critical and embedded systems.
