Consultant, Technology Engineer - Oracle Cloud Engineer / Computing

As a Consultant, Technology Engineer you will be responsible for delivering both standard and custom technology solutions in alignment with Nationwide’s architectural standards, technology roadmaps, industry trends, and business needs. Your focus areas will include collaboration on platform, data, systems, storage, middleware, network, security, and Cloud technology products. Additionally, you will be accountable for the operation and support of these products, ensuring they meet enterprise requirements and defined service level agreements (SLAs).

In this role, you will design, build, and support Oracle Cloud Platform and its associated capabilities. Key skills and knowledge essential for this role include:

Key Skills

• Strong understanding of cloud architecture and the ability to design scalable, reliable, and secure cloud solutions.

• Expertise in services like Cloud Compute, Cloud Storage, Platform automation, Cloud Security, Identity and Access Management for Oracle Cloud (including Oracle Analytics Cloud Service, Autonomous Database, Cloud Guard)

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform, and containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.

• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Go.

• Knowledge of cloud security best practices, including identity and access management, encryption, and network security.

• Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment both individually and as part of a larger team, including the ability to mentor and train less experienced engineers.

• Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to troubleshoot complex cloud infrastructure issues for Oracle Cloud Platform.

• Experience working in an Agile framework for management and delivery of work products.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and build cloud infrastructure for Oracle Cloud Platform.

• Responsible for applying secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities.

• Works with other Technology Engineering teams and Technology Architecture to ensure the success of products.

• Collaborates with vendors to help drive design innovation in product enhancements and improvements.

• Conducts proactive and reactive monitoring to detect, predict and resolve abnormal conditions in the environment.

• Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment both individually and as part of a larger team, including the ability to mentor and train less experienced engineers.

• Provides complex production support for Oracle Cloud technology platforms.

• Collaborates with Technology Architecture professionals to develop technology product roadmaps for Cloud Platforms.

• Drives Cloud Platform improvements through optimization, enhancements and the implementation of new features and functions.

• Executes on production engineering processes, incident management, root cause analysis, problem management, change management, release management and knowledge management.

• Conducts “proof of concept” labs for enhancements, innovative solutions, and competitive bake-offs.
