We are seeking an ASL Global Deployment Consultant to join our team and contribute to advancing the global mission through the recruitment and development of missionary candidates.
Location: Richmond, VA

The ASL Global Deployment Consultant is responsible for mobilizing and guiding prospective missionary candidates from Southern Baptist churches through multiple pathways. This role involves nurturing candidates, managing their progress through the application and assessment phases, and facilitating a smooth transition to the job-matching stage of missionary deployment.
Responsibilities:
Mobilize and develop potential candidates for all pathways by conducting information conferences and networking with faculty, staff, students, and others from local SBC churches, state conventions, universities/colleges, seminaries and other Baptist entities
Evaluate and assess applicant materials to determine readiness for missionary service, collaborating with the Medical Department, Member Care, and TCK Educational Consultants
Assist with the assessment process for individuals pursuing long-term and mid-term missionary service for assigned region, providing guidance and support throughout the process
Collaborate with the Deaf Affinity to fill high priority job requests
Partner with churches to develop and send healthy, sustainable missionaries
Collaborate with US Engagement to help build mission pipelines within SBC Deaf churches and ministries
Conduct weekly reviews of prospect files to address questions and concerns, ensuring a smooth application process
Provide expert advice and guidance to Personnel and Associate Consultants on complex or unusual cases
Collaborate with the team to coordinate and facilitate a monthly interview conference for candidates preparing for mid-term and long-term assignments
Requirements:
Master’s degree in theology or missiology is preferred
A minimum of 5 years relevant experience is required
Active membership in an SBC church is required
Prior field service with the IMB is preferred
Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) is required
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM systems is preferred
Demonstrated ability to effectively assess missionary candidates, evaluating spiritual gifts, professional skills, and emotional resilience to determine their readiness and potential for long-term success
Proven capability in managing and coordinating the processing of multiple applicants simultaneously, ensuring accuracy and efficiency throughout the selection process
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships with candidates and personnel
Experience in planning and coordinating events involving applicants and church leaders
