Bakery Associate and Delivery Driver

We are currently looking for a motivated and hard-working individual to join our team as a Bakery Associate and Deliver Driver. The Bakery Associate plays a critical role on the team and is responsible for finishing packaging of desserts, making deliveries, supporting baking processes, and maintaining a sanitary work environment in the bakery. The bakery associate works directly with the bakers to ensure all tasks are completed with care and at a high level of excellence. The bakery associate will support the bakers in all areas of baking to ensure that the recipes for breads and pastries are prepared to exact specifications for our retail and wholesale customers. We have built a reputation for impeccable bread and pastries and the successful candidate will be able to maintain that reputation. The ideal candidate is also able to start work in the early morning hours as is typical for a bakery operation. 

An Apprentice Baker works closely with our Executive Pastry Chef and has the opportunity to learn from one of the best bakers in our area. The bakery is located in the historic Hawley Silk Mill Building.

The ideal candidate for this position has a high school diploma or high school equivalency diploma, at least one-year prior relevant experience, and knowledge of food safety and handling requirements. Formal culinary training is highly desired. In addition, the Baker/Finisher must have excellent customer service skills, effective oral and written skills, good time management skills, and professional dress, speech, and behavior.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Deliver bakery orders to restaurants and clients
• Package finished bakery products to precise specifications
• Support the preparation of baked goods following established recipes and procedures and maintains a high quality and consistent product
• Clean work areas and all equipment used in food preparation
• Understands and communicates all store promotions to customers
• Monitor product levels and re-stocks as required, rotating goods to reduce shrinkage
• Maintain work area in a neat and organized manner
• Perform other duties as assigned 

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Follows safety and sanitation rules and practices
• High school diploma or high school equivalency diploma preferred
• One year of relevant experience
• Formal culinary training a plus
• Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
• Excellent customer service focus
• Knowledge of general sanitary and safety practices
• Able to bend, kneel, squat, stand, and lift heavy objects as needed
• Able to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
