This posting is for an Operations Program Manager to lead with administrative and operational functions for the Debate Center in the Department of Communication and the newly formed Center for Civic Discourse and Debate in the Colleges of Liberal Arts and Sciences. This position will be based in the Department of Communication.
Responsibilities
The John Park Debate Society and the Center for Civic Discourse and Debate is seeking an Operations Program Manager to lead with administrative and operational functions in both units.

This position will be based in the Department of Communication. Job responsibilities include:
· Supervise existing debate society programming, including Refugee Debate League, Beehive Forensics Institute, Better Utah Election Debate Series, John R. Park Public Debates
· Plan, develop, and establish new outreach and engagement programs that leverage the resources and expertise of the debate society, as well as its campus and community partners, e.g., presentation skills lab and/or other supplemental instruction that supports the college and campus community
· Assist the Director of Forensics in the coordination of competitive and community-engaged programs, including marketing and recruitment efforts
· Assist the Director of Forensics in supervising and mentoring students participating in the debate society, including graduate assistants
· Assess the competitive performance and community impact of programming offered by the debate society
· Collaborate with department and college development staff to support the needs of the debate society
· Represent the debate society, college, and university at on and off-campus events, which may include overnight travel

Operations Program Manager, I
Drive company strategy, align teams, and deliver on multiple interconnected operations projects. Work to initiate successful programs that drive strategic benefits and organizational growth. Define and oversee a list of dependent projects needed to reach the program’s overall goals. Enlist teams, implement strategies, and measure return on investment. Act as liaison between various departments, facilitating cross-team collaboration and understanding. Organize and track projects, proactively manage risks, manage project escalations, prioritize tasks, and meet specific business objectives. Requires basic skill set and proficiency. Conducts work assignments as directed. Closely supervised with little latitude for independent judgment.
Requires a bachelor’s (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience or a master’s (or equivalency) degree.
This is an Entry-Level position in the General Professional track.
