PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintaining our shorelines requires a watchful guardian for the water. Aurora and Quincy reservoirs serve as the city's favorite escape where nature and people connect. Wildlife and plants depend on you to keep their home safe. Visitors count on your efforts for a smooth day at the lake. Wrestling 100-pound objects provides a free workout while you fix essential facilities. Small repairs act as the heartbeat of a functional park. Running equipment with care keeps the trails and greenery looking sharp. Keeping gear in top shape shows you take pride in your tools. Snow removal tasks make you the hero of the winter months. Kindness toward every person you meet builds a stronger community. Strict safety habits protect you and everyone around you. Doing the right thing while working alone in the field shows true character. Detailed records ensure everything remains organized and ready for use. Protecting these reservoirs means acting as the anchor for our local environment.
Must be 18 years old at the time of hire
Anticipated start date for this role is April 15, 2026.
The hiring rate for this role is $18.00/hour.
This is classified as a Seasonal position where the selected candidates' length of employment will not exceed six (6) consecutive months and can work up to 40 hours a week. This position does not provide medical benefits. This position earns sick leave in accordance with the Healthy Families and Workplace Act

Position overview:
The Parks Steward is an integral member of the team responsible for maintenance and stewardship of public lands, resources, infrastructure, and facilities in order to provide safe and healthy homes for plants and animals, as well as safe and pleasant human experiences.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides outstanding stewardship of the public lands under care
- Performs maintenance and repair work on facilities and properties
- Plants and cares for trees and vegetation
- Properly operates and maintains equipment
- Updates records concerning materials and equipment used
- Maintains and enforces safety regulations and procedures
- Performs work to complete special functions with all user groups and between city departments
- Performs snow and ice removal as needed
- Performs additional duties as assigned
