Role Mission:

As an Engineering Manager, our mission is to build and nurture a high-performing team, providing them with the necessary support and resources to create groundbreaking mobile and communication products that exceed customer expectations. By fostering a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and excellence, we strive to drive technological advancements and shape the future of mobile and communication technology for youth sports.

The Engineering Manager will be responsible for leading and developing a team of engineers, including directing, coordinating and exercising authority for planning, organization, testing, leadership and completion of engineering projects.  The Engineering Manager will be accountable for the development of engineering capabilities and for ensuring proper engineering  processing to obtain maximum productivity and quality.

What You’ll Do:

  • Collaborate with product managers, designers,  the engineering director, and any other relevant stakeholders to flesh out team projects into workable requirements.
  • Ensure the team completes technical projects in a timely and quality fashion.
  • Lead large, technical projects – directing and coordinating the work of your team.
  • People manage all engineers on the team. Mentor and develop direct reports.
  • Represent the needs of your team both within engineering and externally when necessary
  • Work with recruiting to assist in sourcing and interviews for approved open roles.
  • Train new employees
  • Communicate effectively with partners
  • Create reports to give updates on projects
  • Direct and coordinate production, operations, quality assurance, testing, or maintenance
  • Monitor performance of individual contributors and help manage their professional development

Meetings:

  • Regular one-on-ones with all members of your team (Own)
  • All sprint, scrum, or planning meetings for projects that you are directly involved in. (Attend / Own)
  • Conditioning for members of your team (Own)
  • Product stakeholders meeting
  • Post-mortems for all incidents you are named as a participant. (Attend / Own)
  • Retrospectives for any projects you are a part of. (Attend / Own)
  • Weekly company All Hands. (Attend)
  • Any other engineering or company meetings deemed mandatory. (Attend)

Who You Are:

  • 3+ years of experience as a people manager.
  • 5+ years of industry experience as a software developer, specialized in creating communication products such as notifications, chat systems, mass email services, and mobile applications.
  • App Store Connect and Google Play experience.
  • Experience building relationships and driving collaboration from cross-functional teams.
  • Strong ability to coach developers, helping them improve their skills and grow their careers
  • The desire to solve tough problems with quality software at scale
  • Analytical, problem-solving, negotiation and organizational experience.
  • Understanding of Engineering detail
