Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Sr. Staff Systems Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Systems Engineering organization. This role is located in Rancho Bernardo, CA.

In this role, you will need to be familiar working in an Integrated Product Team (IPT) construct and consider yourself a self-starter.

Roles and Responsibilities will include:

  • Conduct thorough trade studies and analyses to weigh the benefits and/or detriments related to networking associated with a new development effort
  • Manage the execution of all SE functions, to include Safety, Human Factors, Operational Analysis, Cost Engineering, and Configuration & Data Management.
  • Lead the successful completion of technical reviews such as System Requirements Review (SRR) and Preliminary Design Review (PDR)
  • Prepare, coordinate and brief execution status and risks at program meetings
  • Conduct technical assessments for incoming changes to evaluate SEIT impacts
  • Executes trade studies with coordination across engineering disciplines
  • Maintain and update SEIT process documentation
  • Supports Program Management in new business pursuits to include: capture, SOW shaping, technology evaluations, authoring white papers, trade studies, process improvement, and bidding & proposals.
  • Manage the baseline of new engineering projects to include labor & non-labor planning & earned value management (EVM)

The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility. There is no remote / hybrid / telework available for this position. Travel up to 25% may be required.

Basic Qualifications

  • Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 14 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 12 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline and 10 years of related engineering experience.
  • Must have an active DoD Top Secret clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs.

  • Current applicable Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.
  • Current Special Access Program access
  • Supplier Management Experience
  • Experience leading cross-discipline teams
  • Experience serving as a Control Account Manager (CAM)
  • Current CAM certification
  • Experience serving as a proposal estimator
  • Experience in technical writing such as tech volumes & white papers

Primary Level Salary Range: $192,800.00 - $289,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
