About the role

Summary Description

This position is responsible for all levels of the production planning process while creating and providing clear scheduling direction and guidelines. The position will ensure volume customer service inventory and operating expense goals are achieved through creation, communication and implementation of weekly sales and operations master production schedules. The Planner will create and communicate production plans based off the Kingspan Material Requirements Planning (MRP) system.

Essential Duties

Essential duties are interpreted as being descriptive and not restrictive in nature. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Performs all work in a safe manner; promotes and fosters a safe work environment
  2. Monitors and analyzes capacity constraint data and adjusts master schedules accordingly or make recommendations for solution.
  3. Reviews sales forecast and inventory data to create weekly master production schedule in accordance with customer service targets, logistics and manufacturing cost goals.
  4. Directs the required production plans and schedules in order to meet delivery and manufacturing requirements (within the agreed order lead times).
  5. Coordinates routine planning meetings for all the departments.
  6. Analyzes daily production reports and advises of anticipated output problems, such as On Time In Full (OTIF) shortages, equipment failures and possible order amendments/cancellations.
  7. Expedites all operations that delay schedules and alter schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
  8. Reviews Manufacturing Requirement Planning (MRP) to establish capacity lead times and production rates in conjunction with sales forecasts and customer orders.
  9. Maintains a healthy, safe and environmentally sustainable working environment, and ensures adherence to all Company and legislative requirements.
  10. Implements all new operational policies and procedures.
  11. Controls planning activities, within levels of responsibility, ensuring that the department's workload is undertaken in an integrated, productive and synchronized manner.
  12. Maintains appropriately responsive stock levels-ones that meet the criteria set out in the Service Level Agreement.
  13. Continuously assesses responsibilities to identify opportunities to make improvements and to implement improvements as needed.
  14. Remain compliant with the Code of Conduct and Policies which includes the Product Compliance Policy.
  15. Ensure that all duties related to product compliance are adhered to in accordance with the Product Compliance Policy, Laws, Regulations, and markets demands.
  16. Responsible for all tasks to achieve compliance goals and demands of Compliance Management System.
  17. Must raise concerns related to the Compliance Management System to their supervisor, manager, any member of the Leadership Team, or through the confidential whistle blower service.
  18. Potential for domestic travel approximately 3–4 days every other month, as needed to support business operations.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

Education and/or Experience: BA/BS in procurement/logistics or related field, plus two (2) to four (4) years previous business experience in production planning, scheduling, manufacturing or distribution operations; or High School diploma or equivalent, plus six (6) to eight (8) years previous business experience in production planning, scheduling, manufacturing or distribution operations; or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the above knowledge, skills and abilities.

Must have:

  • Experience with business computer applications (Microsoft Office).
  • SAP or similar software experience.
  • A good understanding of forecasting and inventory planning skills.
  • Strong excel and reporting capabilities.
  • Strong leadership skills, analytical, and problem-solving ability.
  • Strong organizational skills; strict attention to detail; ability to multi-task and prioritize.
  • Strong communication skills, effective interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
  • The ability to deal with highly complex issues and to stay calm when under pressure.
  • Experience in MRP
  • Ability to adapt to a complex, ever changing work environment including adopting a flexible approach and reacting positively to changing circumstances.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Must be able to communicate orally and written in English.
