About our Team
We are a small and independent team within a large organization. Our team is very diverse. We have autonomy in decision-making and collaborate extensively with the larger Elsevier organization. We are responsible for maintaining and extending one of Elsevier's nursing health education web application products. Innovative in nursing health education, we use big data and analytics to track students' interactions with content and assessments. This provides a highly focused, engaging, and personalized learning experience for students which in turn positively impacts patient care.
About the Role
You will be accountable for the back-end Java component of the application. You will partner with other stakeholders to set direction and execute our teams objectives.
Responsibilities
- Providing direct input into our product and help formulate our project plan. This position performs software design — typically across multiple systems
- Mentoring: We put high emphasis on coaching and mentoring; as such, you will mentor more junior members of the team. This is a hands-on role, so you will still spend a decent amount of time coding.
- Driving innovation in Nursing Health Education Education working within our advanced Tech stack.
Requirements
- Have an expertise in our technical stack, including but not limited to Java, Spring, Gradle, and Postgres (or similar RDMS).
- Have knowledge/experience on frontend frameworks like React, Typescript, JavaScript Possess knowledge of test-driven development. • Experience in distributed microservices. Experience in RESTful API development
- Experience and willingness to mentor junior software engineers. Advanced knowledge of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum).
- Have the ability to write and review portions of detailed specifications for developing complex system components.
- • Experience with development and collaboration tools like Git/Github, JIRA, and Confluence
