Job Description

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Staff Environmental Engineer.Ā  This position is in Roy, UT and supports the Sentinel program.

The Environmental Engineer will develop, implement, and maintain Sentinel Environmental Impact Statement NEPA Mitigations and Compliance (EM&C) programs to ensure design and construction of infrastructure meets the standards and requirements therein, including, but not limited to:

  • Liaison with US Air Force and their appointed representatives discussing prescribed responsibilities for both Northrop Grumman and US Air Force. Establish detailed and comprehensive compliance metrics and direct updates as required.

  • Liaison with Northrop Grumman subcontractors and their appointed representatives discussing prescribed responsibilities. Establish detailed and comprehensive compliance metrics and update as required.

  • Prepare for potential compliance audits, minimizing required efforts for preparation.

  • Conduct internal compliance inspections to identify actions necessary to meet regulatory requirements by Northrop Grumman and its subcontractors.

  • Reviews and interprets existing and proposed environmental regulations to determine applicability and impact to site.

  • The position will be filled at a Level 5.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in environmental engineering, environmental science, or a related field, and 12 years of experience with a Bachelors; 10 years with a Masters or 8 year with PhD in environmental compliance.

  • Extensive experience in environmental compliance programs such as: Environmental Impact Statements (EIS), the Clean Water Act (CWA), Spill Prevention Controls and Counter Measures (SPCC), Stormwater, Air, Toxic Release Inventory (TRI), Underground and Aboveground Storage Tanks (UST/AST), Pollution Prevention, National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) and sustainability.

  • Significant experience in conducting in person training and developing online training for various environmental compliance related topics to various types of audience.

  • Unique, detailed understanding of dashboard metrics to update senior Northrop Gurmman and USAF on NEPA compliance efforts and leading audits with federal agencies.

  • Significant experience conducting internal compliance inspections in environmental programs.

  • Experience overseeing third party consultants/contractors.

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance, with an ability to obtain and maintain SAP approval within a reasonable period, as determined by the company to meet its business need.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in environmental engineering.

  • Experience establishing programs which comply with National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Environmental Impact Statements (EIS) and Mitigations.

  • Experience in interfacing with federal agencies to establish compliance programs related to requirements in the Clean Air Act (CAA) and Clean Water Act (CWA).

  • Experience with establishing and executing environmental audit programs for multi-billion dollar design, manufacturing and construction operations.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to recognize opportunities for process improvements and to develop and implement more efficient and enhanced programs.

  • Excellent computer-based skills specifically with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point programs

Primary Level Salary Range: $139,000.00 - $208,600.00
