POSITION SUMMARY:
The faculty facilitates meaningful learning of the course competencies in the curriculum and proactively supports all facets of the learning environment. The faculty provides education through learning-centered instruction that will enable graduates to fulfill the evolving needs of the marketplace. Encourages a culture of learning that values mutual responsibility and respect, life-long learning and ethics as well as personal and professional development. The faculty participates in activities that promote the stature of the Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Management program, College of Business departments, and abide by the South University Board of Trustees and administration's mandates. (This is an online teaching/remote position.)
KEY JOB ELEMENTS:
1. Manage the educational process to ensure every student is involved in a positive educational experience through the learning, teaching, and social environment.
2. Perform faculty responsibilities as outlined in the faculty job description in accordance with the provisions of Faculty Supplement to the South University Employee Handbook.
3. Provide course instruction in Business and Healthcare Management that aligns with the South University model of curricula and supports the South University style of system delivery.
4. Designs and delivers class instruction through the development of instructional plans to meet course competencies, the development of activities which support lesson objectives, and (in the case of online instructors ONLY) delivers the instruction as approved.
5. Effectively utilize technology in the classroom to support the student learning experience.
6. Enables the achievement of pre-defined outcomes for student achievement and evaluation of learning in the area of Business and Healthcare Management by providing instruction which fosters competencies and establish student performance criteria and evaluation.
7. Delivers learning-centered instruction by establishing a educational environment conducive to learning and student involvement and effectively planning and preparing for classes and student success.
8. Promotes student success by showing flexibility in style and work schedule and exhibiting a passion for teaching and students and engaging students in the learning process.
9. Manages the educational environment through keeping accurate records, submitting grades and other reports on time, and enforcing academic and attendance policies consistent with the school and online division.
10. Contributes to a learning culture by participating on curriculum and system task forces, supporting local campus events such as orientation and graduation, and participating in various other workshops and meetings.
11. Relates professional/life/industry experience to learning by the continuation of professional/technical skills development, the introduction of industry perspective into courses, and the active awareness of professional/industry trends and opportunities.
12. Participate in the faculty development process to enhance knowledge, skills, and abilities in learner-centered instruction.
13. Communicate consistently and effectively with supervisor(s), faculty, and other South University administrators.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• Master’s degree in the teaching discipline of Business Administration and Healthcare Management or a related discipline. Terminal degree in the same discipline preferred.
• Experience in instruction or formalized education process, preferably in a post-secondary or college institution.
