Job Description

Role Purpose:

The SAP Data Lead will be part of the Financial System & Strategy Group in NBCU’s Global Controllership organization. As the SAP Data Lead, you bring experience in advising, guiding, and implementing the best data strategy, processes, and solutions for our NBCU in the field of the SAP Data Management.

NBCUniversal will be moving from the current SAP ECC platform to SAP S/4 in the near future. NBCU considers the SAP S/4 journey not as a technical upgrade but as a business transformation.

Therefore, significant design work is required before migrating existing financial processes. SAP S/4 upfront design is critical: we only get one chance to get the design right before undertaking the multi-year implementation program. Data is at the top of the priority list in preparation of our SAP S/4 implementation, right alongside the functional and business process considerations.

The successful applicant will be a highly competent and experienced Finance professional who is able to provide thought leadership and practical knowledge in the field of SAP master data for finance transformations and next generation ERP Finance Solutions. Exposure to S/4 implementation/transformation will be advantageous. 

Responsibilities:

• Analysing existing master data and pain points, including issues with the chart of accounts, customer master, vendor master, material master.
• Understand customizations that have been made to data in the existing system, as well as optimization points.
• Perform data mapping from the old data structures to the to-be structures in S/4.
• Develop a strategy for those specific master data elements that structurally differ between the two systems
• Designing data strategies and to enable centralization of data and processes, including defining the required governance structure.
• Defining the strategy for mapping business processes regarding Master Data Management and the associated impact on the integrated data landscape of the organization.
• Coordinating and driving cross-functional designs to define data integration requirements for the organization and SAP transformation programs.
• Set up a strategy and plan to cleanse the data prior to conversion.
• Design data governance processes are in place to maintain quality data moving forward.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

• University degree in Information Management or related field preferred
• 8+ years of work experience in the field of SAP Master Data activities, SAP process knowledge
• Experience in working and managing MDM projects, setting up governance around managing data-related design workshops, while building and BU relationships
• Strong SAP Master Data Strategy experience: practical experience with SAP Data-related tools (e.g., Data Analytics, SAP MDG)
• Proven thought leadership and strategic thinking in SAP S/4, master data and FICO
• Proven ability to act as catalyst between Finance function and IT re SAP S/4 design and implementation
• Deep knowledge of finance processes & how they are enabled via systems
• Demonstrated understanding of SAP business processes (e.g., purchase-to-pay, record-to-report, order-to-cash)
• Understand S/4HANA Universal Journal and Central Finance
• Knowledge and proven track record in SAP ECC & SAP S/4
