Position Summary

This position is in the My Sci Resource Center warehouse operated by the Institute for School Partnership and reports to the ISP Distribution/Warehouse Manager. This employee helps with the inventory functions of receiving, shipping, refurbishment, and pick-up and delivery of science kits and materials.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assemble kits.
  • Assist with all areas of inventory control: receiving, material handling, moving inventory to proper locations and cycle counting.
  • Help deliver and pick up kits from schools.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:

  • Stockroom or warehouse.
  • Dust, dirt, grease or other disagreeable elements.
  • The warehouse workers work in adverse conditions. The warehouse has no air conditioning and minimal heat. Temperatures range from 50-60 degrees in the winter and up to 110 degrees in the summer.
  • May drive up to a 26 ft box truck and are required to deliver/pick up in adverse weather conditions.
  • Frequently lift 25-50 lbs.
  • Use a 2 wheel hand truck to move up to 250 lbs up a ramp to load the box truck for delivery and down the ramp at the schools. Reverse the process when picking kits up at schools and unloading at the warehouse.
  • Carry 25-50 lbs kits up multiple flights of stairs to deliver to school sites.
  • May drive a forklift.
  • May operate shop tools (saws, drills, drill presses, pallet jack, hand tools).
  • Requires extensive safety training.
  • Exposure to moving machinery.
  • Exposure to chemicals - potentially.
  • Requires protective devices.


Physical Effort

  • Typically bending, crouching, stooping.
  • Typically standing or walking.
  • Repetitive wrist, hand or finger movement.
  • Ability to move to on and off-campus locations.
  • Frequent lifting 25 lbs or more.
  • Using tools requiring high dexterity.

  • Office equipment.
  • Operate a motor vehicle.
  • Simple hand tools.
  • Heavy equipment (buffers, movers, forklift, etc.) - potentially.

More About This Job

  • Class E Driver's license required, as this role may drive up to a 26-foot box truck and/or University-owned vehicles.
  • Forklift operator certification is required for those who operate a forklift. Training will be provided in order to obtain certification. 
  • Safety Training will be provided before the use of tools (saws, drills, drill presses, pallet jack, hand tools), for those who will use them.
