THE JOB:
The Director of Communications leads all internal and external messaging for the Property, ensuring alignment with the Company’s broader communications strategy and the vision of the Executive Team. This role acts as the official spokesperson and primary media contact, driving positive media coverage by cultivating strong relationships with press and media outlets. All responsibilities must be carried out in accordance with MGM Resorts International policies and procedures.
THE DAY-TO-DAY:
Develop and execute strategic communications and media relations plans to support MGM Resorts’ priority initiatives—including sports betting, partnerships, and key business activities—ensuring alignment with broader corporate and property objectives.
Serve as an on-the-record spokesperson and primary media contact, managing inquiries, coordinating interviews and press events, and delivering clear, consistent messaging.
Create and distribute a range of materials such as press releases, talking points, and fact sheets.
Proactively pitch stories, cultivate media relationships, manage media lists and platforms, and monitor coverage to enhance the property's visibility and reputation.
Lead internal communications efforts in partnership with Human Resources and leadership to drive employee engagement, delivering content across multiple channels including newsletters, memos, and announcements that reflect company values and goals.
Provide strategic counsel to leadership on media relations, crisis response, and messaging. Support executive communications through thought leadership initiatives, speechwriting, and the development of presentations and organizational updates.
Collaborate closely with corporate communications to ensure alignment with company-wide standards and messaging strategy.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree in communications, Public Relations, Journalism, New Media, or a related field—or has equivalent education and experience.
With at least 5 years of progressive experience in communications, media relations, public relations, or journalism, the candidate brings a solid foundation in both external and internal communications, preferably within a resort, hospitality, or entertainment setting.
They have demonstrated success in developing and executing strategic communications plans, serving as a media spokesperson, and managing press relationships and crisis communication.
The candidate is a strong writer with expertise in AP style, and understands the evolving media landscape, including the integration of social media into public relations strategies.
This leader has prior experience managing people and external PR agency partners, offering clear direction and oversight to ensure alignment with brand strategy and tone.
They are skilled at building cross-functional partnerships and guiding executive communications efforts including thought leadership and speechwriting.

Pay Range:
The pay range for this role is:
$115,100.00 - $191,900.00Please keep in mind that this range represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual salary offer will take into account a wide range of factors,
