Senior Coordinator for Aquatics, Waterfront and Safety Programs

What We Are Looking For

Baylor University is seeking a Senior Coordinator for Aquatics, Waterfront and Safety Programs to provide leadership to all water-based programs and safety education. This includes operational oversight of the McLane SLC Natatorium, SLC Backyard, and the Pullin Family Marina. This position would oversee staffing and the associated certifications and safety education for pool and boating operations. This position is also responsible for offering Safety Education classes for Campus Rec staff and Baylor community by teaching certification classes or training instructors to teach classes.

A Master’s degree and one year of relevant work experience is required. Applicable fields of study: Recreation and Leisure Services, Experiential Education, Business Management, or related degree. A combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of the degree requirement.

All applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. 

What You Will Do

Staff supervision

• Interviewing, hiring, training & evaluation of Aquatics and Marina staff including 
• Aquatics/Marina Student Staff Team 
• Summer Programs Team – in collaboration with OA Rock Staff 
• Graduate Student and/or Part-Time Temporary Managers 
• Certified Safety Instructors, Swim Instructors, Watercraft Instructors 

Manage and Conduct Safety and Instructional Courses

• Maintain certification and proper instruction to program various courses: 
• CPR/AED 
• First Aid 
• Water Safety/Lifeguarding 
• Watercraft Training (sailboats, kayaks, canoe, paddleboard) 
• Swim Lessons 
• Boater Training 

Operations: Safety & Risk Management of Aquatics/Marina Facilities & Equipment

• Oversee daily operations of SLC Natatorium and Pullin Family Marina 
• Manage inventory and order necessary equipment         
• Guide Policy and Procedures for Risk Management & Safety  
• Maintain water and chemicals balances, general pool operations, filters, and mechanical systems
• Stay up to date on all regulations, health codes, and documentation as it relates to aquatics and Marina
• OSHA – ADA – Baylor requirements

Maintain Collaborative partnerships with agencies within and beyond Baylor

• Ensure safety standards per OSHA and ADA requirements in all Campus Rec facilities. Oversee mandatory training, certifications, and documentation necessary for safe and compliant facilities and water-based programs
• Serve as Departmental liaison with Red Cross

Other Duties
