Job Description
Our Payroll Services Department is a part of the Global Finance Team within McDonald’s Global Business Services (GBS) organization. Payroll Services provides full hire-to-retire payment processing for over 60,000 employees located in North America and across the globe. GBS is committed to delivering 100% Customer Satisfaction in a timely, high quality and accurate manner while ensuring adherence to internal controls.
Payroll Services is currently in need of a specialist role that will be responsible for higher-level concepts and duties related to payroll, global mobility, system usage, and continuous process improvement activities. The position also participates in various payroll procedures, general ledger & account reconciliation, data analytics, and reporting.
Payroll/Global Mobility:
- Learn & utilize unique payroll requirements associated with expats including the application of hypothetical and/or actual taxes, gross up elements, earnings & balance adjustments within a fast environment. (Enter, test/review compensation & tax components for routine calculations; apply knowledge of both US and Canada payroll related concepts; participate in specialized payrolls testing, processing & validation)
- Gain knowledge, execute procedures & recognize anomalies with inpat shadow payroll process to correctly apply local taxation reporting for third-party tax service provider
- Monitor mobility payroll cycles and research/resolve exceptions quickly. Respond to labor inquiries from other North American & international finance teams. Run queries and prepare journal entries to distribute expatriate labor costs to global markets. Reconcile reporting results and accounts feeding intercompany activity
- Employ technical skills including use of multiple corporate systems and enhanced Excel or SQL-based tools & files including pivot tables, logic formulas, data mining & upload preparation
- Work in tandem with OracleHCM support to execute solutions for new payroll situations to support the full spectrum of the business from Operations to Corporate
Collaboration/Communication: Communicate with IT, Legal, and Benefits teams as needed. Interact with Global & Domestic Mobility Centers of Excellence, McDonald’s Controller groups, our 3rd party Tax Service Provider and employees on Payroll inquiries via various methods.
Teamwork: Exhibit proficiency in learning and communicating effectively within a team. Collaborate across teams to ensure compliance with daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines.
Customer Service: Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills in support of our crew, management, staff, and internal teams.
Complete Ad Hoc projects as needed

The expected salary range for this role is $59,630 - $71,550/ per year

Qualifications
- 1.5+ years of experience processing and/or calculating payroll and other compensation transactions and analyzing financial data
- 1.5+ years of customer service experience in a professional office/business setting
- Understanding of basic accounting principles preferred (debits, credits, general ledger, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior expat payroll experience preferred but not required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field preferred
- Payroll Certification preferred
- Experience working with Payroll Sys
