About the Role 

The Configuration Management Engineer will be responsible for managing and controlling the configuration of space systems hardware throughout their lifecycle. They will coordinate and manage all configuration management activities, including planning, identification, control, status accounting, and audit. 

Role Responsibilities

  • Data Integrity: Ensure the integrity of configuration data (requirements, CAD models, Part records, Documents, etc.) by maintaining accurate records and documentation of all configuration items.
  • Change Control: Implement and manage change control processes to ensure that all changes to configuration items are properly documented, evaluated, approved, and implemented.
  • Status Accounting: Provide accurate accounting of configuration item status and configuration change documentation.
  • Audits: Conduct configuration management audits to verify compliance with the configuration management plan and identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaboration: Interact with various teams, including engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, program management, and missions to ensure proper implementation of the configuration management plan.
  • Tool Management: Work with IT to manage tools and systems used for configuration management, ensuring they are up-to-date and effective.
  • Reporting: Prepare detailed reports on configuration management activities, including status updates, change orders, and audit findings, and present them to stakeholders.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in configuration management.

Qualifications

  • Education: A bachelor's degree in a technical field (engineering, computer science, information systems, mathematics, etc.). 
  • Experience: 3+ years of practical experience with configuration management tools (PLM/PDM) and processes.
  • Technical Writing Skills: Proficient in documenting technical reports using MS Office suite 
  • Self-motivated Problem Solver
  • To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Capella Employees must be a U.S. citizen, lawful U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State and/or the U.S. Department of Commerce, as applicable.
