What we want
Join our team at the Small Animal Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital as a Veterinary Technician Assistant in the Anesthesia department! The Veterinary Technician Assistant provides technical support in the Anesthesia Department, maintains safety protocols when handling animals, maintains a high standard of patient care, keeps all anesthesia areas clean, assists the other veterinary technicians and doctors as requested.
What you need to know
Salary: Starting at $16.35/hour.
Cover Letter/Resume: A cover letter and resume are strongly recommended.
On-Call Coverage: May be required to working alternate shifts, some overtime, holidays, weekends, or on-call duty. Participates in emergency duty coverage during veterinary student absences and for holidays. While taking call, the technician will need to respond within 30 minutes of an emergency call to report to duty.
Please note: Persons in this position are considered essential when the University declares an emergency, campus closure, class cancellations, etc., and are therefore required to report to work and remain on duty unless/until relieved by the direct supervisor.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
Two years of experience in a medical or veterinary setting
Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Basic computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, and billing entry through electronic medical record
Working knowledge of veterinary equipment used within a veterinary teaching hospital such as but not limited to: anesthesia machines, fluid pumps, multi-parameter monitoring equipment,
