You will be starting on offense; the product line (4.5+ star apps & responsive web experiences), business, and tech (modern front-end stacks with significant backend re-architecture happening) provide a healthy start, with lots of upside to realize. MailPlus squad primarily focuses on driving subscription growth in the mail. This team innovates and builds seamless user experiences of next generation mail plus experience across Android, iOS and Web platforms for Yahoo Mail users. Yahoo Mail continues to be one of the largest and most recognizable email services in the world delivering over 4.5B emails daily and used by over 200 million users across 40 countries and 70 languages. Responsibilities: 

• Engage, attract, and retain top talent

• Provide project and technical leadership to engineers in a fast-paced environment

• Drive technical excellence and implementation of best engineering practices

• Enforce design review, continuous integration and test driven development

• Coordinate with partner teams when required, help unblock teams and resolve issues across teams

• Lead hands-on implementation work to keep current with technology trends inside and outside Yahoo

• Work closely with product management and development teams to define the next generation of communication products

Qualifications:

• BS degree in Computer Science with 8+ years of hands-on experience in delivering large-scale web and mobile applications, 2+ years of team management experience

• Strong OO programming experience:  Java, Kotlin, ES6, Swift or similar 

• Strong technical knowledge of web and mobile application development with a  solid understanding of the framework, components and their life cycles

• Understanding of large scale applications concepts (clustering, scalability, caching, performance tuning etc)

• Experience with mobile and web Technologies (Node, HTTP, JSON, Webpack)

• Understanding of agile methodologies like Scrum, Kanban, Lean, and agile engineering practices like Test-Driven Development, Continuous integration, and other extreme programming practices

• Proficient in a Unix/Linux environment, HTTP, Web services, and Restful API

• Ability to manage and work with diverse groups of people, geographically dispersed across the world
