As a Sr SQL Server Database Engineer at Rockwell Automation, you will work to design, implement, and manage our enterprise SQL Server infrastructure.

What you will do:

Database Infrastructure Management:

• Design, implement, and manage robust and scalable SQL Server and Azure SQL database infrastructure.

• Ensure high availability, performance, and security of SQL Server and Azure SQL databases through proactive monitoring and tuning.

Performance Optimization:

• Conduct performance analysis and optimization of SQL queries, indexes, and stored procedures in both on-premises and Azure environments.

• Collaborate with development teams to enhance database design for optimal performance.

Backup and Recovery:

• Develop and maintain comprehensive backup and recovery strategies for both SQL Server and Azure SQL databases.

• Implement disaster recovery plans to minimize downtime and data loss.

Security and Compliance:

• Enforce security policies and procedures to protect sensitive data in both on-premises and Azure environments.

• Stay current with industry trends and best practices to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Capacity Planning:

• Perform capacity planning to anticipate future database requirements in both on-premises and Azure environments and optimize resource utilization.

Azure Integration:

• Leverage expertise in Azure SQL databases and PaaS services to design and implement cloud-based database solutions.

• Collaborate with Azure DevOps and other Azure services for seamless integration.

Mentoring and Knowledge Sharing:

• Mentor junior Database Administrators, facilitating their professional development.

• Foster a culture of knowledge sharing within the team, conducting regular knowledge transfer sessions and workshops.

Collaboration:

• Work with cross-functional teams, including developers, system administrators, and network engineers, to ensure seamless integration of database systems across on-premises and cloud environments.

Automation and Scripting:

• Implement automation and scripting for routine database tasks in both on-premises and Azure environments to improve efficiency.

• Explore and implement new technologies to streamline database management processes.

The Essentials- You will have

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent relevant experience

The Preferred- You may also have

• At least 7 years of experience managing enterprise SQL database infrastructure.

• Experience as a Sr SQL Server Database Engineer with a focus on infrastructure and expertise in Azure SQL databases and PaaS services.

• In-depth knowledge of SQL Server internals, performance tuning, and optimization.

• Experience with database security, backup, and recovery processes in both on-premises and Azure environments.
